The role is being offered within the Service Quality team of Student Service Development. The team’s key functions are to support the senior management of the Student Services, to lead on student services governance structures, business planning, continual improvement, data integrity, management information and reporting. Additionally the team supports the student focused work of the University by investigating ways in which both people and processes can be improved to the benefit of the students, the academics and the University as a whole. Main Responsibilities Approx % time per year 1. Assist and gain experience in the area of continual improvement of processes through learning about the University and its systems; helping to document processes and write/update user guides; being in attendance at meetings with various staff to gather feedback about how things are working now and how they might be improved. 15% 2. Assist and gain experience with the Executive Assistant team on filing and general office duties; email correspondence and telephone queries, typing of correspondence, reports; electronic calendar management including scheduling of meetings; booking of meeting rooms in the School and on the University campus; arrangement and servicing of internal and external meetings 15%

Main Responsibilities Approx % time per year

1. 2. Assist and gain experience with the Executive Assistant team on filing and general office duties; email correspondence and telephone queries, typing of correspondence, reports; electronic calendar management including scheduling of meetings; booking of meeting rooms in the School and on the University campus; arrangement and servicing of internal and external meetings including arrangement of venue, provision of agendas and taking of notes; arrangement of catering for meetings and events; arrangement of travel for staff together with provision of detailed itineraries; updating of the team’s Workspace and websites; recording of staff absence and holiday leave.

3. Assist and gain experience in statutory returns to the Student Loans Company and United Kingdom Visa Immigration Office ensuring compliance with their various regulations and the accurate and timely submission of data on our students. Helping monitor the appropriate mailboxes to respond to queries raised by current and potential future students.

4. Assist and work with the Business Manager on the review and maintenance of key documentation in the form of business plans and risk and strategy documentation. To work with Data Manager in gathering information on the

University data needs and requirements and working to understand how that data can be presented in formats useful to those who need it.

5. To help with the further development of service level agreements which will be used to manage customer demands and set Student Service priorities helping to pre-empt customer needs, identifying good practice such that it can be shared more broadly.

6. To assist during various cross university events such as Open Days and Graduation Ceremonies.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential DesirableQualifications/ Education

5 GCSEs or equivalent, including GCSE English and Maths (Grade A-C)

Keyboard skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office

(Word and Excel in particular) and Outlook email and calendars

Good verbal & communications skills with confident telephone manner
