At Nottingham, we have an outstanding reputation for teaching quality. The University offers over 400 degree courses at a variety of levels as well as research programmes. Our teaching is informed by the very latest research findings. Our taugh courses constantly evolve to incorporate new research developments and many are delivered by research scholars, passionate about their subjects. The University is keen to ensure that teaching is always innovative and effective.

Courses are offered in the following levels of study: Foundation courses: These courses are available to students who cannot yet fulfil the entry requirements for undergraduate (Bachelor) degree programmes. We curently offer Foundation Programmes in Engineering, Science, Business, Arts and Social Sciences, Healthcare Science and Pharmacy. Undergraduate / Bachelor courses: These courses typically last for three years. Postgraduate courses (Master): These typically last for one year and are for students who have already completed their first (Bachelors) degree. MBA: This is a one-year course and is for students who already hold a good first degree and have at least three years of relevant working experience. PhD: The doctorate programme is a research-based programme of study and typically lasts for 3 years. New Route PhD: This is a 4 year research programme which consists of a taught part (1 year) and a research part (3 years).

With four campuses in Nottingham, one in China and one in Malaysia, the University of Nottingham has a lot to offer. The University has campuses across the city of Nottingham. The main University Park site is set in 330 acres of parkland. The Sutton Bonington campus, set in the picturesque Nottinghamshire countryside, houses the School of Biosciences and the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. These traditional campuses contrast with the stunning Jubilee Campus. Built in 1999 to a set of sustainable guidelines, the modern campus is home to the International Office and the School of Education, as well as the state-of-the-art Business School and the new Research & Innovation Park. Medical students are based at the prestigious Queen's Medical Centre (QMC). Close to University Park, the working hospital provides an opportunity to experience life in a professional setting. You can spend part of your degree abroad; at our campuses in Malaysia and China, with one of our many Erasmus and Study Abroad partners or within the U21 global network of universities.

Accommodation The University of Nottingham guarantees accommodation to all international students for their fist year of study (conditions apply, see website for details). The University offers university-arranged accommodation in 21 halls of residence in a safe campus environment at or near University Park, Jubilee Campus and Sutton Bonington Campus. All of our halls have resident wardens and tutors to support students if they ever need help or advice. All study bedrooms are fully furnished and all rooms are equipped with a telephone and a computer point which enable students to make and receive telephone calls and access the University’s data network from their bedrooms. Nottingham is a diverse city offering some of the best sporting and entertainment facilities in the UK. The historic Nottingham Castle, contrasts with a vibrant nightlife and thriving arts scene. The excellent public transport network provides quick and easy links to several other major UK cities. London is less than two hours away by train and the nearby East Midlands Airport offers low-cost flights to cities across Europe. Within the University, the Students Union offers over 190 societies covering languages, cultures and religions, hobbies such as gardening, subjects including creative writing, art and biology, and even chocolate. Broadway Cinema and its surrounding areas are favourites among students.

The University of Nottingham has a strong Mexican community. The Mexican Society organises social events and trips around the year. The Mexican Society at was created in 2001 with the aims of providing a focal point for Mexican students to identify with, meet and receive support from each other and also to promote mexican culture through a range of events, both social and cultural. Our aim is to make the application process as simple and efficient as posible and we encourage all applicants to apply online. The entry requirements for our programmes vary depending on the course and can be obtained from the relevant school or our online prospectus at www.nottingham.ac.uk/Studywithus International students in particular are advised to submit their applications as early as posible. An offer of a place is needed for many of the scholarships available to international students, and closing dates are often early in the year. Furthermore, you will need to have an unconditional offer of a place on your course and be able to demostrate that you have secured funding before you can apply for a student visa.

English language

Speakers of English as a second language need a recognised English language qualification equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (no less than 5.0 in any element) for the Foundation course. Requirements for degree courses can be 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 depending on the course. For TOEFL tests we require scores of 527/197 (no less than TWE 3.5) for Foundation courses and 550/213 (no less than TWE 4.0), 573/230 (no less than 4.5 in TWE) and 600/250 (with no less than 5.0 in TWE) for degree courses. The Centre for English Language Education offers English courses to offer holders. These courses are a great opportunity if you need to improve your English before starting your course. Undergraduate applications

For a bachelor degrees a typical A level offer ranges from AAB – BBC, or IB 30 to 35. Other candidates will normally take a UK Foundation Programme but each case is considered on an individual basis.

Foundation Courses will typically require a minimum average of 8 in preparatoria or bachillerato.

All postgraduate applications should be made directly to the University. You can Access the applications portal at http://my.nottingham.ac.uk/pgapps

The portal enables you to complete and submit a standard application form. Once you have submitted your application, you can view its progress by using the online tracking system. The portal also contains links to other useful information about the University and the local areas.

With your application you will be expected to submit proof of your qualifications (academic and English), two academic references and, for research courses, a research proposal. Typical academic requirements are:

Masters degrees: Bachelor degree from a reputable university with an 8/80% average.

PhD degree: A Master’s degree with an 8/80% average.

New Route PhD: A good first degree with an 8/80% average. * Please note that the academic and English language requirements will depend upon the type of course applied for.

How to apply


Studying abroad is a major investment —a commitment to yourself, your subject and your future. We are keen to help our students secure funding. However, please be aware that financial support is limited, so we recommend that you investigate opportunities as early as possible. Entering the country

In order to enter the UK as an international student, you need to be able to demonstrate to the immigration authorities that you have sufficient funds to meet all your costs, including tuition fees and maintenance. Therefore, you should hold your funding and visa before you register at the University. Competitive scholarships are not available once you have registered on your programme. Tuition Fees

Nottingham fees are stable for the whole period of a programme (except in Medicine) so the fee you are quoted for the year of entry will not be increased during your programme. Tuition fees can be paid in two instalments. In addition to tuition fees, we estimate that total living costs (accommodation, food, books, equipment, clothes, laundry, pocket money, travel, but NOT including travel between home country and the UK, etc.) will be around £700 per month for a single international student.

The University has a Student Employment Service on campus and you will be permitted to work, depending on the stamp on your Passport, for up to 20 hours a week in term-time and full-time on vacation.
