THE LOREM IPSUMS SUMMER 2016

Yoga Studios

So many to choose from! Go to www.charlestonyogi.com for a complete list of

every studio and their schedules.

Bikram Yoga Located just a few doors down from the hostel, this yoga practice is not for the faint hearted. The room is kept at 105 degrees with 40% humidity. 26 yoga poses and 2 breathing exercises will make you sweat! 137 President Street (843) 884-3737

Charleston Power Yoga Another good yoga workout studio, they have a community class Friday early evening for those on a budget. 517 King Street (843) 513-3400

Holy Cow Yoga Studio

Located in West Ashley just over the bridge in the Earth Fare shopping center, Holy Cow is the real deal. The owner Trace is extremely knowledgeable about asana practice as well as the philosophical and spiritual aspect of yoga. Classes range from slow and relaxing to advanced and fast paced. They have a beautiful store attached to the studio that offers yoga clothes and books for the aspiring and practiced yogi. 10 Windermere Blvd. (843)769-2269

Jivamukti Yoga

The most spiritual based yoga practice in Charleston, each class begins with chanting and study of yogic scripture. Classes are demanding and inspiring- I highly recommend their morning meditation (free!). The only other Jivamukti studio in the United States is in New York City. We are so lucky to have this studio in Charleston! 320 Coleman Blvd- in Mt. P (843 817-3899

Breakdown of Charleston’s Boroughs

South of Broad – Charleston’s oldest neighborhood, you can find all the large, beautiful homes (such as those on Rainbow Row) here, as well as the Battery Park. This is the perfect neighborhood to walk around in and take a look at Charleston’s architecture. Harleston Village—Home to the College of Charleston, Harleston village houses many students and families alike. This is a quaint neighborhood with a variety of smaller and larger homes, as well as Colonial Lake. The French Quarter—This is the heart of Charleston’s tourism. With plenty of restaurants, carriage tours, and museums, the French Quarter has plenty to do. Check out the St. Philip Episcopal church (and graveyard), the open-air market on Market St, and the Waterfront park. The Business District—Centered by King St, the Business District has lots of offer, from a variety retail shops to bars and restaurants. Stop by Marion Square after lunch on King St, and enjoy the storefront architecture. The Boroughs—With each segment of blocks named its own borough (Ansonborough, Mazyck-Wraggsborough, Radcliffeborough, Cannonborough, and Elliotborough), this neighborhood is infused with small businesses, restaurants, and parks, as well as homes to artists, musicians, students, and more.
