Original Text: It goes without saying that one should not drive after using mood-altering drugs. This is also true of marijuana, which can impair various aspects of drivingbehavior.

A study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that THC impaired a driver’s ability to maintain a constant speed, stay in one’s lane, and react to the speed of the car in front; even a relatively dose of THC slowed Reaction time.

Counterpoint: Legalizing Marijuana

Notes:

Keeps you from plagiarizing.

When you write your paper, you will be able to use your own sentence structure and not copy the same structure from the original text.

Why Put a Number on Card?

• Later, when you write your paper, every time you refer to a fact (even if in your own words), you must tell the source.

Example in your paper:An individual can still be impacted by marijuana use 24 hours later (Rushman).

Why include main idea?

• After you complete your note cards, you will then arrange them according to main ideas.

• These main ideas will be color-coded and then moved together (see video).

• You will now have the beginning of an outline AND your paper will now “write itself”.
