There are many signs we do outwardly to show that we are making a Lenten sacrifice, but it’s what we do on the inside that is just as important. Lent is a time when we clean all that is cluttering our spiritual life. Distractions that keep us away from praying or spending time with God in Scripture. To take inventory of all the good we are doing in our spiritual life and make them even more of a priority not just during Lent but every day. Lastly to empty ourselves and let Jesus’ Word and deeds show us the way to be Jesus to all those in need. DO I NEED TO SHAKE HANDS, OR DRINK FROM THE PRECIOUS BLOOD CUP DURING COLD AND FLU SEASON? The short answer is NO. With the New Year comes cold and flu season. During the winter months many of us will experience a cold or for some of us worse, the flu. Please remember there is not a requirement to shake hands at the sign of peace, or drink the Precious Blood from the cup during Mass. A simple wave or acknowledgement of a gesture of peace is sufficient. Also receiving just the Body of Christ (in host form) and not the Blood of Christ is sufficient. So for those who are worried about catching either a cold or the flu please wave to those around you during the sign of peace, or receive the Body of Christ in host form in order to minimize the risk. Have a safe winter! ***************************************************** FIRST RECONCILIATION PREPARATION - Good Shepherd Days - for all students in 2nd grade in St. Sylvester School and our CCD program will be Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 from Noon to 3 PM. THIS WEEK BEGINS LENT a time of spiritual housecleaning,
taking inventory and emptying oneself in order to let Jesus work
