• Geography links extremely well with specialist science and arts subjects, as well as history so it is ideal for a balanced curriculum

• Geography has one of the highest rates of graduate employability, being highly valued by employers

The course covers four main areas:

1. Key Geographical Themes A study of the new and updated Geographykey themes including Rivers & Coasts,Population & Settlement, Natural Hazardsand Economic Development. • ICT and the use of GIS are encouraged

throughout this unit. • 1 ½ hr Examination in June 2013. 50%

2. Sustainable Decision Making

Testing your ability to apply the ideas

contained in one of the KGT units.

before the assessment.

• 25% of total grade.

3. Geographical Enquiry –

Linked in with one of the four key themes.

Fieldwork is undertaken at the end of Y10

or beginning of Y11 and involves a fieldtrip

to a destination away from Toulouse.

4. Geographical Investigation – You choose

a topic from nine issue-based geographical

investigation topics namely; Disease, Trade,

Ecosystems, Sport, Fashion, Energy, New

Technologies, Crime, Tourism. See next slide…..

800 Words, 10% of total grade.
