NORTH/WEST: MAY 11 & 12 EAST/CENTRAL: MAY 18 & 19 cambridgeartscouncil.org 2013

As Cambridge Open Studios approaches, we spend a lot of time mapping locations of artist studios and com-mon venues throughout the neighborhoods and squares of Cambridge. As the dots fill the map, the breadth of art
occurring in the city at any given moment comes into sharp focus. Open Studios pro-vides a perfect opportunity to move from a broad to a close-up, personal view of the artists, their work, and the neighborhoods that make Cambridge such a unique and exciting place.
With so much art to experience, you may choose to start with a common venue, where artists show their work in a group set-ting followed by visits to individual studios that span from these centralized locations. Another approach is to look for a particular artist or type of artwork and develop a per-sonalized studio tour with that focus. What-ever your approach or interest, 2013 marks the debut of New Art Love/+ ! <3, a free, mobile application for smart devices that will allow audiences to locate artists, studios, and common venues like never before! If you still like the feel of a conventional map or want to spend time in advance planning your experience, worry not as we will continue to provide sample images, links to artist websites in the Open Studios brochure and online at cambridgeartscouncil.org.
Whatever your path, as you travel from one studio to the next, I encourage you pur-chase art, enjoy the city’s outdoor public art, visit cafés and patronize our local restau-rants and shops. Along the way, you are sure to discover new experiences and delights!
