Celebrate and learn during Vacation Bible School! This year we will be singing and dancing to the music of Cokesbury’s G-Force Vacation Bible School from July 20-24, 2015! Aftermorethanfortyyearsintheministry,Rev.SteveandLindaaremovingintoretirement.WehavegreatlybenefitedfromhisleadershipoverthepastfiveyearsatNorthridgeUnitedMethodistChurch,andwewishthemallthebestastheymovetoSanClementetobeclosertofamily. PastorStevewillbecontinuinghisministryastheCEOofhisnewcompany,TEOLIS(TheEssenceof Life is Spirit), through which he will be coaching andconsultingforpastorsandlocalchurches. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to celebratehisministry,notonlyatAnnualConferenceinRedlands,butalsoatthePettyRetirementPartyinJune.

Iamwritingtoinformyouthataftercontinuedconsultation and prayer, it is the Bishop’s intent to appointtheReverendDr.JosephChoiasyourleadpastor.
TheBishopandCabinetareexcitedforyouasyouwelcomeathoughtfulpreacher,engagedBibleteacher,andChrist-focusedpastortocomeasyournextspiritualleader.PastorJosephcomestoyouafter nine years of service at the San Fernando First UMCwherehisgiftsforministryandloveofneighborwereevidencedinhislifeandwork.
Pastor Joseph and his wife, Esther, and their two childrenareexcitedaboutcomingtoserveamongyouandtogrowintheirownexpressionofwhoandwhatGodcallthemtodoandtobeasfollowersofJesusChrist.
“Coach”and“AssistantCoach,”CheckerstheCheetah(puppet),will get kids ready for their day of fun as they Move, Act, Care, Follow, and Share!

Here is just one example:There was an enthusiastic, dedicated bible study group with good leadership at a villagechurchinthePhilippines.Therewasaproblem.Theyonlyhadonebible.TheChangetheWorldProgramprovidedtheneeded bibles, in the local language, plus plentyofextras.This,alongwithmanyotherprojectswillchangetheworld.True,itwilltakeawhilebutitwillhappen–guaranteed.

NUMChasbeenabigsupporteroftheScoutingformanyyears!Thankyou!OurSenior/AmbassadorGirlScoutTroopTintaguias has been a perpetual troop of high schoolgirlsatNUMCsinceatleasttheearly1990s,wehavepatchesdatingbackto1976.IthashadseveralNUMCmembersasadultadvisors, including Dorrel and Louis Atteberry andChuckMortensen.ThetroopiscurrentlyledbyNUMCmemberTandyWilson.

AsSeason4of“FriendsofMusic”comesto a close with our last concert held on June5th,Iwouldagainliketosendmyappreciation to all who have helped with “goodies” and assistance in the kitchen forthereceptions.ThosewhoprovidedhomemadeitemsfortheJune5thconcertwereMarisolGarcia,FreddieLuMcGinnis,JanisPerezandMarthaRuiz.HelpinghandsforpreparationwereKayMcGregor,myhusband,Nelsonandourdaughter,Trisha.
Frank Bell was born during the depression in Delco,NorthCarolina.HedescribesDelcoasawideplaceintheroad.Later,heandhisfamilymovedtoLewisberg,WestVirginia,wherehisfatherownedafurniturestoreandhismothercaredforFrankandhisfivesiblings. Starting in the seventh grade, Frank attended GreenbrierMilitarySchool.HecompletedhiseducationatVirginiaPolytechnicInstitutewherehemajoredinmechanicalengineering. After spending four years in the Navy, Frank cametoCaliforniawherehewashiredbyJPLasatestengineer.DuringhistimeatJPLFrankwasinvolvedinmanytestsofcomponentsforheat,coldandshaketodeterminetheirreadinesstobecomepartofaspacecraft’sattitudecontrolfortheguidancesystemsfortheLunarlandingandfortheMarsandUranusorbiterandothersignificantprograms.Inhismodest,unassumingway,Frankdescribed his efforts in setting up the tests as “pick andshovel”work.Inl997,after37years,FrankretiredfromJPL. Duringthistime,FrankmarriedhiswifeDeaninl964andhadtwochildren,JimandMartha.Deandiedinl997.Hisson,Jim,livesinTennessee.Franklosthisdaughter,Marthain2010. Frank’s passion for traveling has taken himtoChina,Japan,Australia,NewZealand,Alaska,MoselRiverinGermany,Normandy,Hiroshima,Peru,Canada,Egypt,NorthandSouthAfrica.OctoberwillfindhiminItaly.Hisloveforphotographyhashelpeddocumenthistravels.
