GET READY FOR THE ULTIMATE MATRIC VACATION!
I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed your Easter break, and that you’re fired up for 2015’s second term. These few months will certainly present us with many challenges, but also with big rewards. Let’s work hard now to set the bar for the months (and years) to come.
April is a busy but short month in the AWSUM office, as we’re rushing to get a new edition to you ASAP. It is with this in mind that we would like to thank all the teachers, marketers, and schools involved for their continued support and their role in making this publication possible.
April’s school of the month is Laerskool
Eversdal. We hope you’ll enjoy your special space up front. Thank you for your submissions every month; we love working with you.
To the rest, remember that your school could be next. Simply submit your news on time and encourage your school to promote AWSUM News via the school communicator, newsletter, website, and Facebook page. Tell us about your school events and how we could assist. Who knows, your school could be our next School of the Month, boasting a full page’s worth of bragging rights.
Remember to enter the Natural Beauty competition on the Natural Beauty Facebook
page. You could win amazing product hampers, and an extra R1 000! Your school also stands a chance of winning R10 000 in cash.
In other news, remember that sales are open for the AWSUM Matric Rage Euro trip, so book your spot now. Twelve days, six cities, five countries: Matrics of 2015, you cannot afford to miss out on this once in a lifetime experience.

During 2014 the Evers completed a very successful Spice Project, a fundraising project run by the parents.
Part of the motivation was to promise the two teachers, whose classes sold the most spices in the Foundation Phase and in the IFSEN Phase respectively, a trip with a helicopter.
Mr Arangies, the headmaster, had to keep his promise and at the end of last term Mrs. Stellie Greyling (left, Gr 2), Mrs Hettie Spangenberg (second from right, Gr 4) and Miss Louise Rheeder (right, Deputy Head) joined him on the trip.

It's Autumn. Shorter days, crisp mornings signal winter’s approach. Make the most of brisk and breezy days to conquer chores for a clean and comfortable winter home, and to wrap up summer’s outdoor lifestyle.
This checklist will help you prepare home for the coming of winter:
OUTSIDE THE HOUSE• Clean and store patio
furniture, umbrellas, children's summer toys.
• Touch up paint on trim, railings and decks. Use a wire brush to remove flakingpaint;primebarewoodfirst.
• Inspect external doors and garage doors. Do they close tightly? Install weather-stripping, door thresholds if needed.
• Wash exterior windows.• Check gutters and
downspouts. Clear of debris if necessary. In cold-weather areas, consider installing heating cable to prevent ice dams.
• Havechimneysandfluesinspected and cleaned if necessary.
Autumn’s is a great time for “spring cleaning"! With winter coming, it makes sense to tuck the family into a freshly-cleaned home.

EPS ANNUAL SENIOR SWIMMING GALA The EPS annual Senior Swimming Gala was held on Tuesday, 24 April. The house captains and cheerleaders chose one of our four “core values: responsibility, respect, integrity and compassion” as their theme.
Many of the events were keenly contested and the “fun class relays” were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Several records were broken, proving yet again, the strength and depth of EPS’s swimming talent. White House won the gala and Yellow House won the Spirit Trophy.
