October Days Poem October days are here you see Skies of blue for you and me Leaves are falling to the ground This one's yellow, that one's brown Apples swinging in the tree Pick a red one just for me Pumpkins growing on the vine Pick the big one...it's mine! ***The above songs/fingerplays were found on website: http://childfun.com/index.php/activity-themes/alphabet/189-the-letter-o-activity-theme.html?start=4 I’m an orange pumpkin I’m an orange pumpkin, big and round (hold arms out to the side as if round) Sitting in the cornfield on the ground. (sit down) I’ll be a jack–lantern with two big eyes (make circles with fingers around eyes) Or maybe I’ll be a great big pie! (hold arms out in front in circle) The Owl There's a wide eyed owl (thumbs and forefingers around eyes) With a pointed nose, (forefinger makes a v at end of nose) Two pointed ears, (forefingers extended up from head) and claws for toes, (fingers and arms bent in front of chest) When he sits up in the tree, (point to tree) and he looks at you, (point at a child in the group) he flaps his wings, (fold arms into arm pits and flap) And he says 'Whoo Whoo.' Five Little Ocean Friends This finger play helps develop number awareness. Cut out your own Ocean Friends and attach each one to a popsicle stick. Five little ocean friends On the ocean floor; The starfish walks away Now there are four. Four little ocean friends Living in the sea; The crab slides away Now there are three. Three little ocean friends Looking for a clue; “Glub, glup,” said the lobster. Now there are two. Two little ocean friends Not having much fun; Off swam the sea turtle Now there is one. One little octopus Sad and all alone, Back swims the starfish, Back swims the crab, Back swims the lobster, Back swims the sea turtle, And they played in the foam.
