mountains. This natural setting beckons to the
outdoor enthusiast. Recreational activities are
abundant in the city's heart with sandy beaches,

ACTIVITIES ABOUND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
Coeur d'Alene is an endless playground
throughout every season. Along with the snow,
winters bring the massive Coeur d'Alene Resort
holiday light show, special holiday festivities,
spectacular lake cruises, live performing arts,
and snowcapped mountains for epic skiing at
three nearby resorts. Ice fishing, snowmobiling,
and snowshoeing are other favorite wintertime
activities here.
10 2022 Coeur d’Alene & North Idaho Lifestyle Relocation Magazine
As winter turns to
spring, snow-melt
fills the rivers creating
adrenaline-pumping
white water for
excitement. Spring
kicks off ArtWalk
every second Friday
from April through
December throughout
downtown celebrating
local and nationally
acclaimed artists.
Summers in Coeur d’Alene are electric!
The sunny blue skies, warm summer
breeze, and fresh mountain air make the
city bloom with activity. The downtown
core comes alive with people shopping

LIVING IN COEUR D’ALENE
As one of the top vacation destinations in
the Pacific Northwest, you can expect an
abundance of activities to do throughout the
year. Being a vacation destination also means
the town swells in the summer when tourism
is at its highest.
Tourism is an excellent asset to the local
economy but can also mean longer than
usual wait times at your favorite restaurant
or watering hole. Along with tourism, Coeur
d'Alene is recognized as a tech startup hub
with a dynamic digital footprint, creating
a growing business environment. Local
construction, light commercial activity, and
larger corporations moving their businesses
to Coeur d'Alene have made for a healthy
economic climate.
Residents can find everything they need
when it comes to shopping in Coeur d'Alene.
From Costco to Home Depot and Lowes to
department stores at the local Silver Lake
Mall, CdA comes reasonably well-stocked for
a town this size.
Another added benefit of living in the
beautiful small town of Coeur d'Alene is the
proximity to the much larger city of Spokane,
Washington. Just a thirty-minute drive west
of CdA, the Spokane area, with over 450,000,
has an international airport and is home
to many large businesses, manufacturing
companies, and healthcare facilities.
But what truly makes Coeur d'Alene a great
place to live is the friendly environment.
There is still a small-town feel to this growing
city; the people are down to earth, and the
neighborhoods are safe. There are many
family-friendly events and activities. And
because of its size, you spend more time
with the people you love and less time
commuting. Coeur d'Alene is genuinely a
wonderful place to call home.

THE SPOKANE REGION >>Surrounded by natural beauty, boasting a historical past, and an innovative, vibrant future, the Spokane Region is gaining the attention of many high-tech, biotech, and financial businesses, making the "Lilac City" a favorable place to live.
Spokane, Washington - Strategically located
on Interstate 90, the northernmost east-west,
coast-to-coast interstate, Spokane, Washington is
just a thirty-minute drive west of Coeur d'Alene.
The Spokane region is home to more than 570,000 and includes Spokane, Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, and several other smaller communities. The average commute time within the region is
22 minutes.
Spokane's incredible quality of life has attracted
a thriving mix of high-tech, biotech, and financial
businesses, along with a young, educated
workforce to serve them. In Spokane, commute
times are relatively short. The schools are good.
The cost of living is low. Cultural events like the
Spokane Lilac Festival and Lilac Bloomsday Run
draw huge crowds. And outdoor recreation is
everywhere – and we mean, EVERYWHERE! At
certain times of the year, you can ski, play golf,
go fishing, and enjoy fine dining, all on the same
day.
BIG & FRIENDLYWhat some people don't realize is that Spokane is
more extensive than some think. With 570,000+
22 2022 Coeur d’Alene & North Idaho Lifestyle Relocation Magazine
residents and a 4.2% natural and in-migration
increase, the Spokane Region has a large and
thriving population but thankfully still retains a
friendly, small-town feel. So, when folks say, "Hello!" to you – say, "hi!" back!
EDUCATED Spokane residents are an educated bunch.
30% of the workforce has earned college
degrees. In addition, this area is home to
a wide array of public and private higher
education opportunities, from two-year
certificates to doctoral degrees. Nearly
90,000 students are enrolled at one of the six
colleges and universities within an 80-mile
radius, building the talent pool for the region.
TALENTED Spokane is committed to producing a
workforce with the skills businesses need to
be successful. Spokane's workforce is young,
talented, and growing. Spokane County has
a higher percentage of adults 25 years and
older who are high school graduates than the
nation at 85.7%.
AFFORDABLE You can actually afford to live here. Spokane's
total cost of living is 3.8% below the national
average. Housing is even more reasonable.
As much as we love Seattle, Portland, and the
Bay Area (all just a short nonstop flight away),
it makes much more sense to live here.
Put simply; the Spokane Region is a great
place to live and work. It has everything you
need to build a business, a career, and a
family—without the big commute, the huge
house payment, and punishing taxes. But
don't just take our word for it – experience
a better way of life and explore the Spokane
area for yourself.
