From Your Pastor…

The month of July always reminds me of the freedom

that was won for the “soul of America” so many years

ago. We celebrate maybe the most important holiday for

the nation’s history that we have. Without the document

of 1776, the Declaration of Independence from Great

Britain, we would never have had freedom and liberty to

live like America has these last 241 years.

Sometimes people say why do you get involved in the political or secular

areas of life as a preacher? What I tell them is, “That I am a citizen of

America and I have the desire and the right to stand for our basic American

principles that were set down in the Declaration of movement from the be-

ginning and we as religious leaders, not only have a right but it is a respon-

sibility to speak out or else the country will have no voice from the faith

community that comes from the Biblical perspective.”

We as a church, believe the truth will set you free (John 8:32), therefore we

should speak the truth in love about our nation’s history and its present

apostasy from the founding principles. Our nation has not been perfect; we

have made terrible decisions over the years but we seek to defend the weak

and care for the less fortunate and hopefully stand for what is right. Do we

do all we can? No, but we can work to do better and elect those who care

more for the nation and others than for themselves. What we have today

has come as a benefit of the freedom fighters throughout our history, paid

in blood and tears of the faithful Americans seeking to keep us free and in-

dependent of another’s rule over us.

My prayer is, that we as a church, will take seriously our nation’s fall from

the Biblical principles that have made us great in the past and begin to do

whatever it takes to help us move forward to renew and remake this great

nation into what God desires for us to be, righteous and God fearing, before

a Mighty, Sovereign God.

In the wonderful name of Jesus,

Your Pastor

Administration & Education

A few years back I started an article, “Are You Available?” This can

mean so many different things, especially as busy as we are in 2017. It

is summer and many things happen during the summer months. Chil-

dren are out of school. We have our children’s program every Tuesday

morning, summer camps, VBS, and every summer the nominating com-

mittee starts enlisting people to help teach and lead our church. We are

the church, the body of Christ and you are a member. If you are serv-

ing, thank you. If you are not serving, ask yourself where your gifts and

talents are and then seek out to serve. We are always looking for new

people to help and serve. So if you are wondering about serving please

contact me and I will direct you to the right person or task.

Our VBS theme this year is “Galactic Starveyors.” We will be discover-

ing the God of the universe. Please come join us July 23rd – 26th. If

you want to help with VBS please contact Chuck or Julie Carver or my-

self, we are open to any leaders and helpers. It is going to be an amazing

time so please come out and join all of us!!!

Page 5 The Lighthouse Volume 18, Issue 7

HOW YOU MAY BECOME A MEMBER

1.By Profession of Faith and Baptism: If you will receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior

and Lord and follow Him in baptism by immersion, we welcome you into our fellowship.

2. By Letter: As a Baptist whose membership is elsewhere we welcome you into our church

family should God lead you here. We will take care of writing for your church letter.

3. By Statement: If your church membership records are not available for a transfer of member-

ship or if you have received Christ as your Savior and then were baptized by immersion in an-

other denomination we will accept you upon your statement of Faith.

4. By Watchcare: As a student whose membership is elsewhere we welcome you into our church

family under “Watchcare.” Your letter will not be transferred, we will notify your church that

we will watch over you while you are away from home.

5. Each person desiring to be a member of NABC needs to meet with the pastor before be-

coming a member.

There’s plenty of room in our family for you.

Come and join us!

In Christ,

Bill Rigsby, Pastor
