Nortel Contivity Client XP/2000/98 Installation Instructions · Using Windows Explorer, open the folder containing the VPN Client Installation Kit which you downloaded to your computer.

Executable Extraction Using Windows

Explorer, open the folder containing the VPN Client Installation Kit which you downloaded to your computer. Inside you will see the Extranet Installation Program called eac460d.

Double click the icon and the file extraction will begin automatically.

You will see the window to the right confirming the installation files are extracting.

Once the file extraction is complete the Extranet Access Client installation wizard will start automatically.

Application Installation

Warning:

Once the installation begins you will see this warning screen. Please follow what it says and close all applications. No other applications should be running during the installation. You should also disconnect your Dial-Up session, and close all applications in the system tray.

Click: to continue.

You will be presented a welcome screen.

Click

You will be asked to review the license agreement.

If you agree, click:

You will be asked where the application files are to be installed.

If you wish to change this location, click: Browse, otherwise,

Click to accept the location and continue.

You will be asked the Start Menu program folder to install the application short-cuts.

Click to accept the default of creating a new folder called Nortel Networks for the shortcuts.

Note: NT or Windows 2000 Only

You will be asked if you want to run the VPN Client as an application or service. If you intend to use the VPN Client to access Windows network shares you want to run as a service. We strongly recommend you select the default to run as an application.

Select the radio button to Install and run as an application.

Click

Confirm the installation and setup are correct.

Click to begin installation.

Note: Windows 95/98 Only

You may see a window informing you the client drivers are being installed.

The new Start Menu programs folder, Nortel Networks will open.

Review the README file.

Click .

You must reboot your computer in all operating systems before going on.

Make sure the radio button on Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected.

Click Finish.

Extranet Access (VPN) Client Setup

Once your computer has rebooted start the VPN Client by double-clicking the Extranet Access client icon in the Nortel Networks program folder.

The VPN Client will start.

If you are upgrading a previous installation of the VPN Client, all your connections will be installed in the new copy. Continue on to Connect Using the VPN Client section.

The Connection Wizard will want to start.

Click to begin a Connection Wizard Session.

You will be presented this default screen.

Enter a name for this connection profile: TDCJ VPN

Enter a description: TDCJ VPN Connection

Click

Select the radio button next to Username and Password.

Click

You will be presented with a screen to enter a user name and password. This is your TDCJ VPN Account name and password.

Click

Enter your User Name

Enter your Password (it will appear as asterisks).

You may choose the save the password, however, the password will not be saved unless you have logged on to your local computer with the same name as your TDCJ VPN Account name and it is password protected.

Click

Select "No, I do not have a Group ID and Password"(this should be default).

Click

Type the designated IP address in the blank space for the Switch at the remote network.

Click

Some users who connect to an ISP with dial-up modem lines may wish to have the VPN server initiate a dial-up connection. If you are interested in using this feature refer to the application help. For now we will disable it, you must manually connect to your ISP.

Select the radio button next to No, I do not want to dial first.

Click to complete the installation wizard.
