Have your children been baptized? Has your 1st grader started First Holy Communion classes? Are you teaching your children about the Mass, Our Holy Mother Mary, and about the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?

Take an hour each week for our Discipleship Formation sessions that introduce your children to the teachings of the Church and how to have Jesus in their lives. Parents also welcome to join in faith-filled fellowship. Call or email the church office and talk with our CFF staff to register all children ages 4-17. Contact: [email protected] or 512-476-6182, ext. 142.

CFF is currently registering families for 2017-2018. Family orientation and “Meet your catechist,” Saturday, Sept. 9. First Discipleship Formation session begins Sunday, Sept. 10. See Cathedral website under “Religious Education” for more information; then come by CFF Office to sign up.

We have a great team of catechists for the coming year but can never have too many volunteers! We still need catechists for Sunday mornings, 10:30-11:45am, for: First Holy Communion, first-year catechist; catechist for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Discipleship session; plus, catechetical assistants, yard duties, and speakers for our

adult Discipleship sessions.

Confirmation: Many of our young people, ages 8-17, will be celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation this spring and will need a sponsor to mentor them in their journey. Call the CFF Office for more info. on being part of this important ministry.

_______________________________________________

Usher Ministry is open to men and women from high school age and up. Ushers aid in seating the congregation, taking the collection, and distributing worship aids and bulletins. Time commitment can be as little as one Mass per month or the time you can offer as an assigned team member or substitute. This is a great ministry for parents whose children are altar servers. Beyond the parish Gospel Meditation (17th Sunday in Ordinary Time) * Do we desire the kingdom of heaven as our ultimate treasure? Our society stresses self-reliance and presents us with many things that appear to be shiny treasures that can quickly tarnish and reveal themselves as mere trinkets. God’s grace and teachings allow us to know what is right and good and to choose accordingly. Earlier in Matthew’s Gospel we heard, “Where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” What do our actions reveal about where our heart is? When God sorts through our actions, how will God evaluate our choices?
