ALL MATERIALS USED IN THIS INSTALLATION SHALL BE LABELED OR LISTED BY UL FOR USE IN MASTERLABELED LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEMS.
GENERALLY ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE OF COPPER AND/OR COPPER/BRONZE. REFER TOSPECIFICATION FOR REQUIREMENTS OF SYSTEM COMPONENTS MOUNTED ON ALUMINUMMATERIALS.
MATERIALS SHALL BE SIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 780 AND UL96A. CLASS I MATERIALS SHALL BEUSED FOR SYSTEMS ON STRUCTURES NOT EXCEEDING 75 FEET IN HEIGHT, AND CLASS II MATERIALSSHALL BE USED FOR SYSTEMS ON STRUCTURES EXCEEDING 75 FEET ABOVE GRADE.
AIR TERMINALS SHALL BE PROVIDED SO AS TO ENCLOSE THE ENTIRE BUILDING WITHIN A ZONE OFPROTECTION. REFER TO SPECIFICATION FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
MAIN CONDUCTORS SHALL BE SIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATION AND SHALLPROVIDE A TWO-WAY PATH FROM EACH AIR TERMINAL HORIZONTALLY OR DOWNWARD TOCONNECTIONS WITH GROUND TERMINALS.
DOWN LEAD CONDUCTORS SHALL BE COPPER AND SHALL BE CONCEALED IN THE EXTERIOR WALLCONSTRUCTION. REFER TO SPECIFICATION.
THE BUILDING'S STRUCTURAL STEEL FRAME CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE USED AS THE DOWNCONDUCTOR. ROOF CONDUCTORS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE STRUCTURAL STEEL FRAME ATINTERVALS AVERAGING NOT MORE THAN 100 FEET AROUND THE PERIMETER. CONNECTIONS TO THESTEEL STRUCTURE SHALL BE BY EXOTHERMIC WELD CONNECTIONS. REFER TO SPECIFICATION.
ROOF PENETRATIONS REQUIRED FOR DOWN CONDUCTORS OR FOR CONNECTIONS TO THESTRUCTURAL STEEL FRAME SHALL BE MADE USING THRU-ROOF ASSEMBLIES WITH SOLID BARS ANDAPPROPRIATE ROOF FLASHING. CONDUCTORS SHALL NOT PASS DIRECTLY THROUGH THE ROOF.
COMMON GROUNDING OF ALL GROUND MEDIUMS WITHIN THE BUILDING SHALL BE ENSURED BYINTERCONNECTING WITH MAIN SIZE CONDUCTORS AND FITTINGS.
GROUND TERMINATIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR EACH DOWN CONDUCTOR. GROUND RODS SHALLBE LOCATED 2' BELOW GRADE AND EXTEND A MINIMUM OF 10' VERTICALLY IN THE EARTH. REFER TOSPECIFICATION.
