Those without EU passports will find it difficult and complicated to gain legal

employment in an EU country. Preference will be given to EU passport holders.

Some schools may however be willing to get a candidate a visa if they are highly qualified

and employing you would be beneficial. Most teachers will however to consider alternative

options.

Some Canadians and Americans have managed to gain employment in the EU –

usually by being in the right place at the right time.

These opportunities are usually found in the less desirable or far flung regions where schools find it difficult to find teachers.

Some teachers choose to teach illegally, but this will not afford you the usual worker

protections.

There’s also scope for teaching private lessons if you advertise on local notice boards, etc.

Although the prospects for non-EU passport holders are not great – there is some hope for

the more adventurous risk takers and perseverant.
