A noncommunicable disease is a noninfectious health condition that cannot be spread from person to person. It also lasts for a long period of time. This is also known as a chronic disease.

Welcome message from author
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide. NCDs comprise cardiac diseases, stroke, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and cancer. Among these, the fraction of highest mortality is attributed to cardiovascular diseases, followed by cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and diabetes. The common risk factors for the top four NCDs (cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and chronic pulmonary diseases) are smoking, alcohol use, lack of physical activity, and unhealthy diet.
