Backpacks filled with toys, clothing articles, hygiene items and food are needed to give to children in TN as Christmas gifts.

Children receive more than backpacks filled with needed supplies. Last year more than 5,500 backpacks from individuals from almost 200 churches were received. The need is great as there are already requests for 6,500 backpacks for this year.

All backpacks given by Tennessee churches will be given to children in TN. Each child will hear the Christmas story and the gospel.

Churches should register their intention to donate Christmas Backpacks at www.tnbaptist.org/backpacks. The website has answers to most of your questions, but if you need further assistance, call Joe Sorah at 423-895-1481. Backpack collection and drop off will be at God’s Warehouse on October 25-27 from 9 am—3 pm.

October is Pastor/Staff

Appreciation Month This is an excellent opportunity for your church to affirm your love and appreciation for those who are called by God and your church to lead in fulfilling the Great Commission. IDEAS:

Have a special prayer time in the worship service for your pastor and staff.

Present pastor/staff members with appreciation gifts (gift certificate/card, monetary gift, flowers for wives, mini-vacation), or a reception following the service.

Provide a Sabbatical Leave for spiritual renewal. A sabbatical is a specific period of time off granted to the minister for in-depth focus on professional and spiritual renewal and calling. It is not a vacation or personal leave. Rather it is a time for creative and intentional meditation, reflection, study and “going deeper with God.”

Week of Prayer for Associational Missions October 17—24, 2021

Please pray for all the ministries of our Nolachucky Associa-tion, including Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Walters State, Disaster Relief, Baptist Builders, God’s Warehouse, Midwest Food Bank, and the Pregnancy Crisis Center.

WE HAVE RISEN! Roe Junction Baptist Church

Join the Celebration on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2:30 PM

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, Roe Junction Baptist Church was destroyed by fire when lightening stuck the steeple. Through this difficult and heartbreaking time, God remained faithful and continued to bless the church. We have risen from the ashes with the help from the Lord, local and out-of-state volunteers, businesses and churches. Join us as we celebrate rising from the ashes!

5K Racers begin their race.

Some of the 12-year-old and under group display their medals following the awards presentations.

East Tennessee Volunteers Respond to Multiple Disasters

Butler, TN (Johnson Coun-ty) experienced flooding from tropical storm Fred. Local volunteers worked several days in response to the request for help.

Hurricane Ida made landfall on August 29 in Louisiana. The local water rescue team responded immediately. One team worked the week of September 12 (below)

and another team is on site this week (Sept. 26).

We are thankful to Southern Freight Services who donated transportation of two tractor trailer loads of supplies to hard hit areas in Louisiana the first two weeks of September.

When a plea went out that tents, cots and other supplies had been requested from our partners in LA, your response in donations has been overwhelming, both in physical donations as well as financial ones. These Bulls Gap Baptist Church young ladies (left) collected many supplies and brought them to God’s Warehouse. Marilyn Marrow received donations from a White Pine girl who collected relief items. All these items were on the third trailer load along with tents, cots, mattresses, rakes, and wheelbar-rows. All are now in LA meeting needs of the victims.

God’s Warehouse volunteers continue to receive relief supplies that will be sent to areas in need. Please check the Nolachucky website for the complete list. Financial donations can be made online or at God’s Warehouse or NBA office or mail to PO Box 326, Morristown, TN 37815.

Awareness Meeting October 26, 6pm — Arrowhead Church

When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their welfare, they are usually brought to the Department of Children’s Services offices to await placement with a foster family. The wait can be several hours to nearly a full day. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothing. Isaiah 117 house will be a safe place always ready to take in the children of this region in their time of need and help what is inevitably a traumatic transition. This place will allow children to receive the comfort and care they need while DCS staff do the necessary paperwork and identify a good foster placement. For more information: www.isaiah117house.com
