Dear Parents,
Mock Parliament
On Thursday 10 March, Glen Iris hosted a visit to
our school by Federal Members of Parliament, Kelly
O‟Dwyer, Member for Higgins, and Peter Slipper,
Member for Maroochydore and Deputy Speaker in
the House of Representatives. The parliamentarians
visited us to conduct a mock parliament with the
Level 4 students. The children role played a sitting
of the House of Representatives and the putting of a
Bill. Following the role play, the children had the
opportunity to ask questions. This was a very
enjoyable and interesting way for the children to
learn about our political system and we were most
fortunate to have the chance to conduct this activity.
