No. 25, 2015Brothers and Sisters:The workload for the 2015
season is very steady. All of our members are working and we have
taken in 60 new members that were either non-union employees or
former members of Local 11. Our new three year agreement is just
about ready to be printed. We will be sending a copy of the
agreement out to the membership in a couple
ofmonths.TheLaborCommitteewouldliketothankthemembershipfortheirsupportduringthiscontract

promote union roofing and waterproofing. This year we are
happytoannouncethattheIllinoisAFL-CIO,ChicagoFederationofLabor,ChicagoandCookCounty,Willand
Grundy County Building Trades and the Will and Grundy Central
Trades Council have partnered with NASCAR to celebrate working
families with a Tribute to Labor at the Sprint Cup Race Chicagoland
400 on Sunday, September 20, 2015. This is the first race in the
chase for the championship. This is a nationally televised event
and there are two sections blocked at the start and finish line for
Union members and their families. Union members will be recognized
during pre-race ceremonies. Local 11 has bought a block of tickets
and will be raffling them off at the August and September Union
meetings. If you are interested in auto racing and would like a
chance to win a pair of tickets please come to the Union meeting on
August 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Local 11 and the other union trades
are doing their part in our counter Rauner campaign. Governor Bruce
Rauner has his playbook in order and is working to strip union
members of their collective bargaining rights. It will take
anenormouseffortfromallofustodefeathisturnaroundagenda.TheOperatingEngineershavejustasked
their membership to contribute .50 a month to their counter Rauner
campaign. Local 11 is looking into creat-ing a Political Action
Campaign Fund. We have met with our attorney and accountant and we
are in the process
ofworkingoutthedetails.Wewillbeinformingthemembersonourprogressoverthenextseveralmonths
at Union meetings and through constant contact e-blasts. We will be
discussing how we can be most effective with the money we have and
how much we will be contributing to this PAC Fund. We must defeat
Rauner and his anti-worker agenda and it will take all of us
working together with the other trades to defeat the
billionaire. All of the Democratic legislators are standing with
labor in our effort to stop Rauner. We will be sending out let-ters
to thank these legislators for their support.Working men and women
owe a great deal to the Democratic majority for their support of
worker rights. Please remember that we need these legislators to
defeat the billion-aire Bruce Rauner in the 2016 election cycle
where he will be spending millions of dollars to put Republican pro
right to work politicians in office. Please do not listen to the
anti-worker agenda that Rauner supports. Always remain Union
