not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but

made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.

Strategic Directions – Our Creation• Ensure that NMC learners are prepared for success in a

global society and economy.• Establish national and international competencies and

provide leadership in select educational areas connected to the regional economy and assets.

• Deliver learning through a networked workforce.• Establish lifelong relationships with learners.• Transcribe most learning to establish credentials of value.

• We can create this future if we work as a community. We may need some help, we may need to watch out for each other. We can do it.

Exercise 1 – Learner Success – Time 20 minutes

• White Cards• Write down your definition of what constitutes

“learner success”. (5 minutes brain writing.)• Discuss at your table for 5 minutes and

revise/expand.• Select a spokesperson to share one of your

most liked statements. 10 minutes total.

Exercise 2 – Community - Time 15 minutes

• Use Colored Cards• Elect a scribe• Discuss for 5 minutes the following question

and come up with a statement at your table.• “What can NMC do to create more of a sense

of community inside and outside?”• Report out one idea 10 minutes max

• 63% of students say that stress has kept them from their schoolwork once or more in the past few months.

pressures are a big source of daily stress for them. This is an increase from a year ago.

• 1 in 5 female college students will experience a sexual assault.

Did You Know?• Suicide is the second leading cause of death

among college age students.• 7% of college students report having

“seriously considered suicide” during the past year.

Did You Know?• 1 in 4 college students have been diagnosed

with a mental health condition within the past year.
