They are an impressive group--most ranked in the top 2 or 3 percent of their graduang class, and as a group their SAT scores (on a 1600 scale) averaged nearly 1460. We ex- pect around 300 of them to join the Honors College in August. Over the past few years, the Honors College has become increasingly selecve and increasingly aracve to top students around the state and the naon. Much of that is due to the extraordinary efforts that all of you -- our current students -- put into your classes, service acvies, research, and leadership. Over the next couple of months, we'll see hundreds of prospecve Honors students on campus, at both organized events and for informal visits. Thanks to all of you who will meet with or reach out to these students to tell them what makes the Calhoun Honors College a very special place. Please know also that there were a lot of disappointed students who were not accepted to the Honors College on Friday. Some were wait-listed, others will appeal. Sll more will know that they can come to Clemson as freshmen and join the Honors Col- lege later, in some cases as early as the middle of their first year. Please encourage these students to come to Clemson as well! One more thing -- with winter weather approaching, be sure to stay safe. Have fun, but don't take any chances. And try to con- sole yourselves if (sigh) one or two of your classes are cancelled. I know you'll be disappointed, but remember that the snow and ice won't last forever. the

Over the past few years, the Honors College has become increasingly selective and increasingly attractive to top students around the state and the nation. Much of that is due to the extraordinary efforts that all of you -- our current students -- put into your classes, service activities, research, and leadership. Over the next couple of months, we'll see hundreds of prospective Honors students on campus, at both organized events and for informal visits. Thanks to all of you who will meet with or reach out to these students to tell them what makes the Calhoun Honors College a very special place.

Please know also that there were a lot of disappointed students who were not accepted to the Honors College on Friday. Some were wait-listed, others will appeal. Still more will know that they can come to Clemson as freshmen and join the Honors Col-lege later, in some cases as early as the middle of their first year. Please encourage these students to come to Clemson as well!

One more thing -- with winter weather approaching, be sure to stay safe. Have fun, but don't take any chances. And try to con-sole yourselves if (sigh) one or two of your classes are cancelled. I know you'll be disappointed, but remember that the snow and ice won't last forever.
