Emotions & Body Fluids
If there is one concept that is truly universal in every sense, it is emotions. Young or old, male or female, working or studying, rich or poor - emotions exist in each and every human being. ‘To err is human’, is an often quoted line, and emotions are often the cause of these errors. There are often moments in a person’s life when the power of his own emotions threaten to overwhelm and sometimes even break him. Traumatic events are aplenty in one’s life and it is essential to learn how to handle such emotions without suppressing them.
A common mistake people make, when trying to curb their fears and anxieties after facing traumatic situations, is suppressing their emotions. It is common to procrastinate thinking about them or facing them, thus pushing them back to the recesses of
one’s mind. However, this is not an ideal solution at all. The real solution is exactly the opposite - to face it.
Before a person can think about how to overcome this problem, it is important to get to the very root of it. What are emotions? This is an answer out of the ordinary, but emotions are, in fact, nothing but body fluids! Physical symptoms such as one’s body shaking, or crying, releases the emotions from the body. Whenever a body fluid is released from the body, the emotion associated with it is also released. For example, fear, shock and suffering are associated with tears from the eyes and rheum from the nose. Self torturing emotions such as guilt are associated with sweat. Attention need is associated with estrogen. So, when someone consciously goes through those emotions, the respective body fluids leave the system, taking those emotions along with them.

Decision Making
That is why, after a traumatic event, the best way to deal with the rush of emotions is to relive the entire experience. This may not be pleasant at all, it may even be a horrible affair. You may sweat, you may shake, but there is no other way. The person must go completely into every detail, every emotion and every feeling to relive it properly and get rid of it once and for all. This must be done with complete awareness, consciously. It will be evident after just two or three days of doing this, that the incident will no longer bear the same weight as it did before. It will be forgotten. All the shock, fear, insecurity and anxiety associated with it will simply disappear.
This does not apply to traumatic incidents alone, but also to everyday life. It is a daily occurrence in some people’s lives, to lose their tempers and make rash decisions that they irrevocably end up regretting. Not just anger, but also due to guilt, fear or sometimes even intense happiness. For example, if somebody’s superior at the office has yelled at them, they either get very angry, very scared or very guilty. It is impossible to think clearly with such a state of mind, and they end up taking the wrong decision. Does this improve the situation with their superior? No, it only makes it worse. A person’s potential is limitless, if not for their emotions inhibiting them from doing what they can.

Anger, lust, fear, greed, attention need - all of these
are strong emotions and all
of these belong to a different
body fluid. So, understanding
this one concept is enough to
liberate anyone that is bound
by their emotions. Emotions
are nothing but body
fluids, a little liquid added
to the body. All emotional
sufferings and emotional
clots are nothing but liquids.
When one understands his
biochemistry he ceases to be
enslaved by his emotional
reactions. Conquering a
person’s emotions and taking
decisions based solely on
their judgment can change
the very tune of a person’s life
and bring harmony back into

The Ramayana
Ramyana is one of the most told and celebrated epics in the Vedic tradition. Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya, had three wives and four sons. Lord Ram (an Incarnation of Lord Vishnu) was the eldest and the son of Kaushalya. Bharat was the son of his second and favorite wife, Kaikeyi. The other two sons were Lakshman and Shatrughna, sons of Sumithra. While Ram was all set for coronation, his step-mother Kaikeyi wanted her son Bharat to become the king. Kaikeyi reminded King Dashratha
about the two boons he had granted her once and was yet to fulfill. Consequently, because Kaikeyi desired so, instead of being crowned as king of Ayodhya, Ram was sent to exile in the forest for fourteen years.
Lord Ram went to the forest, accompanied by his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, and they lived as renunciates. One day Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita were sitting on a huge rock and enjoying the beautiful scenery, when they saw Bharat approaching their hut with the entire army of his kingdom.

As soon as Bharat saw Lord Ram, he embraced him and said: “Ram, our father died soon after your departure. On his deathbed he had only your name on his lips. Please forgive me. It is only because of my cruel mother that you have come to the forest in exile and we have lost our father.”
Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita were lost in grief when Bharat conveyed the news of Dasharatha’s death to them. Lord Ram said to Bharat: “We will carry out the remaining rituals here. You must return to Ayodhya and rule over the kingdom. It is the only way of satisfying our father’s soul.” Lord Ram wished to continue to live in exile to fulfil the promise made by him to his late father. But Bharat was firm to his resolve as well. He insisted that he will instead fast to death, and won’t go back to Ayodhya without taking Lord Ram back with him.
Enter King Janaka
King Janaka, whose four daughters were married to the four sons of King Dashratha, arrived at the scene to resolve the deadlock. King Janaka said: “Ram,
your resolute adherence to dharma (the principle of cosmic order) is such that even Gods bow before you. But love is the only divine ethic that no dharma can ever compel. Steadfast unselfish love is above dharma. When that love reaches its pinnacle in the form of true devotion then God himself needs to break his own laws. That is why now scales are heavy in Bharat’s favour. But remember Bharat, love has its own rules, it makes its own laws. Love’s true power lies in its being selfless. And when love is selfless it asks for nothing. It just wants to give to the beloved for the sake of their happiness and pleasure. And so you now decide what you can give to your Ram. It is easy to give up life, but it is often hard to live for your loved one. If you are a true devotee, sit at Ram’s feet and ask him what he desires”.
Bharat’s Realization
Bharat realized that his judgment was overshadowed by a veil of subtle selfishness. He was only thinking about his love and his glory and misinterpreted it as selfless love. He thanked King Janaka for enlightening him on the essence of true love.

Ram, feeling vanquished by the power
of Bharat's love, accepted being the king
of Ayodhya but only after fulfilling the
promise made by him to his father.
With his newly gained clarity Bharat said
“Dear Ram, at least do this for me. Let
me have your paadukas (sandals). I shall
place them on the throne and administer
the kingdom on your behalf and that too
only till your return after fourteen years
and not a day more.” Bharat took Ram’s
paadukas. With great devotion he placed
them on his head and returned to Ayodhya.
The divine paadukas were kept on the
throne of Ayodhya while Bharat ruled as
Ram’s representative from Nandigram. Ram lived a life of exile for fourteen years with Sita and brother Lakshman.
So much is said about unconditional love, yet often one tends to miss the essence of selflessness. It is important to understand the other person’s needs and happiness instead of only thinking about one’s own wants - to be aware whether one is actually contributing to other person’s life or just burdening them with some ideas of love. Approaching others with an attitude of contributing to their life makes true love flower in one’s inner space and liberates one from his own attention need as well. n

What is ‘Samyama’ ?
The meaning of samyama is to explore and discover one’s various possibilities and powers. It is being centered on a certain technique or spiritual process. In this process, a person will explore and discover their body’s innate possibilities and capabilities without the external input of food or water. The body is a miniature of the cosmos with all possible intelligence in it. If a fish can swim, so can anyone. If a bird can fly, so can anyone. It’s up to every person to discover these possibilities in their bio-memory and reawaken them.
A very important thing that one should realize is that controlling the consumption of food and water through will is not allowed nor effective as it will create one more pattern of trying to control things. The purpose of this samyama is to awaken
the bio-memory. When one’s bio-memory is awakened, he/she will not need will. There will be just a feeling of high energy and excitement.
What will happen through
the samyama ?
During this process, a person will be liberated from many patterns that were created with food. Every human being associates their fear, greed, attention need and the idea of love with food. That’s why when someone is given just one meal, they will feel that the person really loves them. Food is closely associated with love all over the world, not just in one or two particular cultures. Every single pattern associated with love and attention need is connected with food.

What is the purpose ?
The purpose of this samyama is to awaken a person’s own natural intelligence of feeding the body through natural resources such as sun rays, air and ether which is directly available to everyone from space. If plants can make food directly from air, sun rays and ether, so can a person’s body. Every extraordinary capability, every extraordinary possibility is in one’s bio memory.
This samyama is not aimed at saving on food cost. It is aimed at eliminating the many basic root patterns with which people suffer, which are in turn associated with food patterns. When the food pattern is removed, many of those basic emotional patterns are broken and a person is liberated from them. Many
of the fear, greed and attention need patterns are all associated with food.
Finally...
During Nirahara samyama, a person will not use their will power to control the hunger or thirst. In this whole game, if the will comes inside, it will replace food. They will not be successful. This samyama should only make one healthier, full of excitement, joy and bliss. This samayama should not make a person fall sick. Each person should be sincere and honest to their own possibility and capability, but not starving oneself. Nirahara samyama is neither fasting, nor starving. Nirahara samyama is in a way teaching a person’s whole system, responsible intense action. It is a very powerful method where the whole body will learn intense action. n

Indian Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a leafy, aromatic plant in the ginger family with a
unique spicy fragrance. The spice made from the plant’s rhizome is a staple of Indian
cuisine. Turmeric is a potent medicine widely used in Ayurveda and traditional herbal
medicine. Modern medical studies have found that ‘curcumin’, one of the components
of turmeric, is the most biologically active component with healing properties. In the
ancient Indian Vedic civilization, turmeric was revered as a holy powder, dating back
nearly 5000 years.
Dry turmeric is added as an offering in fire sacrifices (homa, yagna), releasing a
cleansing and healing smoke. The spice is called ‘Indian saffron’. Thanks to its brilliant
yellow colour, it is an ideal choice as a food flavour, an effective ingredient in medicines
and cosmetics, and a natural colorant.
Health Benefits
• In the Ayurvedic system of medicine, turmeric has been prescribed for the treatment of upper respiratory disorders, jaundice, as a stomach and intestinal soother, and as an anti-inflammatory substance.• Turmeric powder in warm milk is useful in conditions of sore throat and cough with expectoration. The hot milk eases the throat and turmeric fights throat infection.• The antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antiseptic properties of turmeric prove effective topically in various skin disorders including skin cancer.• Turmeric is popularly used to create face masks by blending turmeric powder with yogurt, honey or milk and applying the paste to the skin.• A combination of turmeric with sandalwood powder as a paste can be applied to the skin to combat acne.• Women in India and parts of Asia use turmeric masks on a daily basis for skin rejuvenation and to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles, also significantly reducing the facial hair.

• For maintaining elasticity of skin and to prevent stretch
marks in pregnant women, a mixture of turmeric powder with
yogurt is applied to the abdomen and wiped off after 5-10
minutes.
• Turmeric with a gram of flour, mixed in water can be used as
an overall body scrub before showering. Doing this regularly
gives a glowing skin.
• For toothache and gum infections, a mixture of turmeric,
rock salt and mustard oil can be applied to the affected area
around two to three times a day, followed by washing the
mouth with warm water.
• A combination of table salt and turmeric powder used as
tooth powder relieves one from tooth infections.
• For heavy headache, sinusitis, cold, or throat irritation,
a piece of dry turmeric rhizome is used with the help of tongs,
the other end placed in a flame of a lit lamp. Inhaling the fumes
gives instant relief. Or, add to water for steam inhalation.
• In India, it is a common practice to apply a paste of turmeric
to minor cuts and bruises. Its antiseptic property is perfect
as it quickens healing. If you feel a burning sensation, it just
means the turmeric is acting!
• As an effective anti-inflammatory, turmeric is used in treating
Rheumatoid Arthritis. Turmeric powder taken thrice daily
helps reduce swelling and inflammation around joints. n

This vegan cake recipe is not only delicious, but also of high nutritive value, consisting of ingredients such as saffron and cardamom. It is also completely egg-less. Saffron is teeming with anti-bacterial qualities, which make it ideal for curing acne. It is also helpful in the improvement of digestion and appetite, because it helps in improving circulation to the organs of digestion. Cardamom also helps in cleansing the body as it has detoxifying properties. It is used extensively in Ayurveda.
Moreover, this recipe is devoid of milk. In some Western countries, the cows are treated inhumanly, which makes causes pain engrams to be a part of the bio-memory of the animals. These engrams are transferred to humans when they consume the milk produced by these cows. This makes being vegan a healthy choice.
INGREDIENTS
1 CUP Soy Milk 1 TEASPOON (approx.) Saffron Threads1 1/3 CUPS Organic Whole Wheat Baking Flour or equivalent1 TABLESPOON Organic Cornstarch1 (Equivalent) “Egg”-Replacer (For Eg, Enter-G Egg Replacer/can be bought at Whole Foods or online)¾ TEASPOON Non-Aluminum Baking Powder½ TEASPOON Baking Soda
½ TEASPOON Salt ¼ CUP Organic Vegetable Oil2 TEASPOONS Organic Apple Cider Vinegar¾ CUP Organic Grade B Maple Syrup – which makes the cake very soft½ TEASPOON Rose Water2 TEASPOONS of Organic Vanilla Extract (non-alcohol base/vegetable glycerin) or fresh/dried vanilla bean ground

¼ cup Non-Hydrogenated Vegan Margarine/Buttery Spread - I used Earth Balance2 CUPS Vegan/Organic Confections Sugar (Powdered Sugar)Several TABLESPOONS of Vanilla Soy Milk, till you get the right frosting consistency*note, non-organic sugar is not vegan/vegetarian as the sugar cane is ground up using bone char.2 TEASPOONS Rose Water (adjust to your taste)1 TABLESPOON Crushed Cardamom (adjust to your taste)1 pint very ripe organic Raspberries for pink color (or vegetable derived/non-chemical red food coloring)*Normal red food coloring is not vegan or vegetarian, red dye #40 is derived from insects.Saffron Threads for garnishing (optional)
Vegan Saffron Strawberry Cake

DIRECTIONS
1. In a small pot/saucepan, pour the soy milk and saffron threads and bring to a boil, then turn off and let the saffron steep for about 10-15 minutes.
2. Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13 inch cake pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Once the saffron has steeped in the soymilk, the milk will turn a beautiful golden-yellow color. Add the maple syrup, oil, egg-replacer, apple cider vinegar and rose water.Whisk until well combined. Using the whisk, slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry whisking until the batter is smooth.
DO NOT over mix.
3. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
4. In a medium-sized bowl, using a hand mixer, beat the vegan butter until smooth and creamy.Sift in 1 cup of the powdered sugar, and beat. Sift in the 2nd cup of powdered sugar and beat until well combined. Add in the rose water, and cardamom.Beat until well combined, then fold in the raspberries and stir by hand.Cover and store in the fridge until ready to use.
5. Once the cake is completely cooled, add the frosting and sprinkle with crushed cardamom and saffron threads. n

Being peaceful within means being in
completely unclutched space or the
restful awareness space internally and
taking more and more responsibility
and being productive externally. Let me
define “peace”. Peace means: being at ease internally and responding to the world in a most efficient way, and being most productive to the humanity. If you wish to authentically
make a difference and bring peace to
the world, you must first bring peace
yourself within. Being peaceful within
means: being in completely unclutched
space, or the restful awareness space.
Let me define this word “Unclutching –
Being Unclutched”. When you are not
transferring the stress and load created
by one thought to the other thought and carrying that load constantly. Please understand, usually you transfer the load and the stress you create by one thought to the other thought and when you are constantly transferring those emotions to the next thought your inner space becomes insensitive, loaded with so much of emotions, it naturally sinks into depression, restlessness, boredom - all the negative emotions..Unclutching is not connecting one thought and the other thought and carrying the same stress and emotions.
When you unclutch you stop carrying the stress and negative emotions from one thought to the other thought and when you don’t carry that stress, suffering, negativity, pressure, restlessness from one thought to the other thought naturally you experience peace inside.

LE VELS OF PEACE
Peace at the level of self: Being in the restful awareness zone at all times, being unclutched within is peace at the level of self. Please understand; every human being has the birthright for the peace within. The Peace at the level of self is the birthright of every human being and everyone should do it. Everyone should have this peace experience – life while you are living.
Second: Peace at the level of Family. Being unclutched and mature in your relationships and executing your responsibility towards your family and relationships. Every householder, person who has a family, is responsible for his family’s peace. Even if you are not the head of a family, please understand; every person who is part of the family is responsible for the peace of the family. Third: Peace at the level of community. Being unclutched in the way you relate with your community, taking up responsibility towards your community and performing actions that radiate responsibility. I tell you, when you unclutch, so much of your inner space will be freely available to you. You will be able to do so many creative things, radiating responsibility. Fourth: Peace at the level of Society – Being unclutched in the way you relate to the society and being responsible at the societal level. Please understand; only at this level you will really feel the sacrifice – the “tyaga” – the joy of sacrifice happening to you. I tell you, only at that moment you really feel: “What can I contribute to others and make a difference?” When each individual is established in being unclutched at the level of Self naturally he will create the peace at the level of family, then at the level of community and it will expand to the level of society. Naturally peace has to start happening at the
level of nation and the whole civilization itself. n

Ganesha or Ganapati is the supreme expression of super-consciousness, the cosmic intelligence. On the fourth day of the waxing moon, He appeared in the Cosmic Space. Thus, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as His birthday festival.
Ganesha is the most worshiped deity in India, for whom there is a temple in every street. He is the most beloved and friendly God in the Hindu tradition. Anyone can approach and relate with Ganesha in any way without much rituals. He can be formed out of a small piece of turmeric or clay and can be worshiped so easily as He is readily available, unassuming and undemanding.
Ganesha has four hands – in the upper right hand, He holds the Ankusha (Goad), in the upper left hand the Pasha (Noose), in the lower right hand He has His own broken tusk and in the lower left hand the Modaka (sweet). His form is a powerful representation of the cosmos and holds a beautiful philosophical representation. The elephant face signifies tremendous awareness and sensitivity. The elephant’s eyesight and sense of smell are extraordinary, the big belly symbolizes the entire cosmos and his Vahana (vehicle) - the mouse, represents playfulness.
Even if the mind is like a big, wild elephant, the small Ankusha - the key that represents unclutching, can control it. When
attachment is added to thoughts, they become engrams. Pasha means attachment, and because Ganesha has His attachments under control, He does not allow thoughts to become engrams. When Ganesha wrote the epic Mahabharata for Vyasa at the banks of the Sarasvati river, His pen broke but He could not stop writing. So, He broke His tusk to continue the task. This displays the spontaneity, responsibility and courage to sacrifice for the cause He had taken up. When we imbibe these qualities, life naturally becomes sweet – this is what Modaka symbolizes.
In celebrating Ganesha Chaturthi, all Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam devotees and disciples remember the great happening in Nithyananda’s life – that Ganesha ate food offered by Nithyananda when He was a young boy! That gave him the intense vitarka from his early years, since it was the first mystical experience he had. His spiritual journey started with the blessings of Lord Ganesha Himself.
Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, the Lord of auspicious beginnings. The best way to enjoy this festival is by bringing unclutching, un-attachment, spontaneity, courage and responsibility into our lives, and by experiencing the sweetness and auspiciousness of the inner and outer worlds. With the extraordinary sensitivity to live and enjoy in the inner and outer worlds, Ganesha can bless one to tune into his cosmic intelligence on this auspicious occasion! n

How can you be honest to your capacity
without being caught in mental cunningness,
tamas and rajas as you explore your
capacity? You see, being honest to your
capacity means to be in the present
moment whatever you are doing, and
to do it with complete intention and
intensity. In The Vedic tradition, we have
a unique thing before every ritual, called a
Sankalpa or will. Does God know your name
or today’s day or date? No. When you take a
will, you take the responsibility. In the Vedic
calendar, on this day, this time and this place
on planet earth - the whole geography and
time is described precisely. So, there you
literally record everything. When you chant
‘samasta duritakshayadwara’ – where and
what you start, everything is recorded.
Practically, you bring it to you and chant
why you are doing what you are doing. A
complete sankalpa is made. The intention is
set. I have seen many times, people don’t
take responsibility for what they are doing
even physically.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
Not taking responsibility for what you
are doing is unconsciousness. Taking
responsibility for what you are doing
physically and mentally is consciousness.
Taking responsibility for all the ripple
effects due to your presence and all
the possibilities due to your presence
is super consciousness. I feel responsible
for all the ripple effects happening due to
my presence with the whole world, with
the whole universe. Please understand,
I mean even for what they are doing
physically. Every moment, everything
you are doing, let you be completely
responsible for it. The moment you take
responsibility for your actions, your innate
intelligence starts thinking, “How can I do
this more perfectly, much better with more
clarity, more depth?”.
I will give you one example - In the morning
Guru Puja, if you take responsibility for what
you are doing, you will think, “I am doing
it, then I should make it successful. What
is the meaning of success in Guru Puja?
Creating a strong feeling connection. Then
come on, let me chant the mantras.” You
are not doing the Guru Puja to transfer
the water from the cup to the plate. Or
from the Arghya to the plate. No, pouring
from there to here we ourselves can do,
you are not needed. You are not doing it to
put things from here to there. But when you
don’t take responsibility for the actions you
are doing, I can see. Your attitude is, “Okay,
now only Paadyam, I don’t know when this
Pushpanjali will come.” When you start
Swagatham itself you are thinking about
Svasti mantra. Taking responsibility for
every action is the reason for the Sankalpa
mantra. Unfortunately, if you start living
unconsciously even during the simple
actions like a small Guru Puja or brushing
your teeth in the morning, I tell you, you
will make the most dangerous unconscious
decisions without even knowing it.
BRAHMANANDA &
POTATOES
One man, Brahmananda was a very great
disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Ramakrishna
used to call Brahmananda his son, spiritual
son. Among Ramakrishna’s disciples
Brahmananda had more influence and
respect than even Vivekananda. In his life an
incident happened. Once in the Belur mutt,
one Brahmachari was peeling potatoes. For
Bengalis, from birth to death, potato is their
life. They don’t just eat potatoes, they live
potatoes – maans, mishit, tamaak is their
mantra. Maans means fish, mishit means
the sweet made out of different sugars,
tamaak is the smoke.

So, one Brahmachari was peeling the
potatoes. He was supposed to receive
Sannyas that year. Brahmananda came and
saw him and immediately said, “Send this
fellow out, he is not qualified for Sannyas.”
Just seeing him peeling potatoes, he said he
is not qualified for Sannyas. Everyone was
shocked. The reason was that, even for this
small action he was not taking responsibility.
He feels somebody else is responsible, but
he is made to do this. Understand, when
you don’t take responsibility in the
smallest actions, you practically give
up on life. `
GIVING UP ON LIFE
I know so many people who give up on life
because of one or two patterns. For example,
you trust your wife so much, but maybe at one
point, she did not stand by you. So, you just give
up the entire concept of a wife. You trust your
father, but he did not stand by you for some
reason. So, you just give up on your father.
Many times, with the Guru also, if you think he
did not stand by you at some point, you just
give up. Like this, you live your life drifting like
a leaf in the wind or dust floating in the river.
When you do small actions without being
responsible, that becomes a pattern even in
bigger decisions of your life. When I made this
as a central theme of Dhyanapeetam on 10th
July, I saw that all Ashramites were relieved.
They thought, “Oh, no more productivity, it
is great. Now we can do what we want.” No. I
have given all the responsibility to you.
Now, it is you who needs to constantly
break new doors in you and open them.
See, each pattern is like one door stopping you
from reaching your inner treasure. When you
break the one door, you go to the next and so
on.

When you are doing yoga in the morning,
understand that you are not forced by the
people or situation to do it, you are doing
it because you want to do it. Increase the
weight you are lifting. If you are trying to
bend and touch your feet, increase it by 2
inches. In 2 inches, surely you won’t break
your back. Just try, stretch one more inch.
Increase the weight by just 2 or 3 kilograms.
Understand responsibility comes with
innate intelligence. The moment you take
responsibility for yoga, immediately you will
understand that you should make it happen.
TAKING DECISIONS
Same way in your office - when I say be
honest to your capacity, you are capable
of the big picture, becoming a part of the
big picture, becoming a part of the big
possibility. But the moment you start
taking small decisions unconsciously,
you are prone to take big decisions
unconsciously. Brahmananda swami
makes a very beautiful statement – if
you can’t take responsibility for peeling
the potato, I know for sure that by this
pattern, you will not take responsibility
for your Sannyas. I know some people,
to change the foot mat in their house, it
will take them 2 years. Because they will
not take responsibility for that foot mat.
They don’t remember it is their house, it
is they who placed it.

Living in an obese body is also
irresponsibility. Please understand,
when it started you should have taken
the responsibility. Or at least after you
became big, you should have taken the
responsibility to bring it to normal size.
Living in an obese body is irresponsible.
You don’t take responsibility for the way
you eat, for the way you live, for the way
you think, for the way you move around.
So, take responsibility for every
action you do. Everything around you,
everything in you. Be honest to your
capacity. I tell you, every one of you carry
the innate intelligence of totality. When
you are eating the food, don’t think your
other senses are absent, they are also
present, so the smell tries to be complete
with the food, the touch tries to be
complete with the food, the sound tries
to be complete with the food, everything
tries to be complete. Every sense by its
nature, tries to complete everything in
your life. Take responsibility for every
single action you are doing. You will reach
your highest possibility the moment
you take responsibility. When you take
responsibility naturally you will ask
yourself for what am I doing this? Why
should I do this? What is the need? What
is the use? Then your innate intelligence
will turn your attention inward. You
will radiate totality. You will be total in
everything. n

My name is Ma Ananda Sanghavasini. I am a Meditation Facilitator in Calgary, Canada. I would like to share a few amazing healing experiences that has happened to me because of Swamiji’s healing and THE Samyama offered by Swamiji free of cost. First is a miraculous healing of a severe allergic reaction. Since the year 2000 I have been suffering from allergic reactions to heat and exposure to sunlight. This reaction manifests itself as a swelling of the face while face and neck are covered in small blisters. It is extremely uncomfortable and painful to say the least. Right before the start of THE Samyama program I was suffering from such an allergic reaction. I asked Swamiji for healing; not only for the healing of swelling and blisters but also for the patterns that keep causing this. Swamiji gave His blessings and told me He would clear it. In the past this allergic reaction would have taken at least 3 weeks to clear up. Now, with Swamiji’s blessings and healing, it took 4-5 days! The healing that happened for me was not only of the skin but of the inner wounds of self-hatred as well. Swamiji explained that THE Samyama works deeply on clearing all patterns related to self-hatred along with all food-related patterns. After the program Swamiji had requested for all of us to get tests done recommended by a physician to make sure we are all healthy. I did all the tests; blood- and urine work, ECG, Ultrasounds, etc. The test results were astonishing. Of course I felt great, I didn’t need any ‘proof’ for that. Nevertheless, to
see the facts right there on top of the experiences of healing I had is nothing short of a miracle. There are two major improvements in my health since I started participating in Nirahara Samyama that allopathic medicine has failed to heal. 1) About 5 years ago doctors noticed three or four huge ovarian cysts on each ovary on an ultra sound that was done. Especially the left ovary had been extremely painful. Now, after having done the ultra sound as a check- up for THE samyama, there was no trace of any cysts!
2) From when I was about 16 years old until now, at the age of 40, I have suffered from Hypoglycemia. This resulted in blood sugar levels going up and down, mood swings and feelings of weakness and dizziness continuously. After participating in THE Samyama last month, I suddenly came to the realization that I have had none of these symptoms at all since the beginning of the Nirahara Samyama first level! There are no words to express the gratitude for the blessings of healing that Swamiji keeps showering on all of us. n

What is intensity?
Intensity means: that which does not create conflict, which is really smoothly flowing, yet very strong. A common belief is that if it is flowing smoothly, like a river, it will not have intensity. Another belief is that if it is not flowing freely like a stone, it does not have intensity. This is not true. Intensity is like a flood which is intense and flowing. Usually intensity is like a solid feeling. There are two different experiences that can occur. One is that it might be intense but one lost the ability to able to flow. The other one is that one might be flowing but lost the intensity. There is a way to integrate both experiences so that the intensity can be experienced. In the Shiva Sutras, an ancient scripture from India, Mahadeva (Lord Shiva) says: “Consider your essence as light rays rising from center to center up the vertebrae. And so raises livingness in you.” Livingness means: radiating the energy that does not create any conflict inside and outside. That is what is meant by the word “livingness” – intensity. Intensely being inside, being conflict-free. The meditation technique described here will help to increase one’s intensity. It is a very powerful technique which which can be practiced everyday as a part of every routine. This technique can be like a “carrying” energy. This technique is especially useful for times when facing mood swings. It can be very powerful. It will bring one back to that same intensity and connect them back to their higher intelligence. This technique will also create a heightened emotional awareness and spiritual consciousness.
Increase your Intensity

INSTRUCTIONS:
Please close your eyes and sit straight. Inhale and exhale
as slowly and deeply as possible. As you go through each
energy center, stay focused on each center for at least
one minute.
1. Visualize yourself as a light in the root center
(Muladhara Chakra), at the root of the spinal cord.
Forget all other parts of your body. Forget everything.
Just be a light.
2. Intensely bring your awareness to the spleen center.
(Swadishtana Chakra), two inches above the root
center. Be in Swadishtana intensely. Forget the other
centers, other parts of the body. Just be in Swadishtana.
3. Slowly move up to navel center right at the belly
button. Now, be intensely present in the navel center
(Manipuraka Chakra). Let your livingness be in the
navel center.
4. Bring your awareness to the heart center (Anahata
Chakra) and be intensely present in the heart center.
5. Move your awareness to the throat center
(Vishuddhi Chakra). Be intensely in the throat center.
6. Move your energy to the brow center (Ajna Chakra).
Be completely centered on the third eye, Ajna Chakra.
7. Slowly, but intensely, bring yourself up, lift yourself up,
to the crown center (Sahsrara Chakra). Be intensely
present in the form of a light in the crown center.
8. Slowly, very slowly, you can open your eyes. n

Anger is an emotion related to one’s psychological interpretation of having been offended or wronged and there is a tendency to undo that by retaliation. Anger is an emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable response to a perceived provocation. It becomes the predominant feeling when a person makes the choice to immediately stop the perceived threatening behaviour of another outside force. Anger may have physical correlates such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and higher levels of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Modern psychologists point out that suppression of anger can have harmful effects as well. The suppressed anger may find another outlet, such as a physical symptom, or become more extreme. This kriya removes anger from a person’s system, liberating him from all the emotional and physical turmoil that is caused due to this one pattern.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. EKAPADASANA(Yogasanam, Verse 5) Stand up. Be balanced. Raise the right foot and place on the left thigh. Continue to balance yourself in this pose. Bring the hands down close to your respective
knees. Stand in this posture for 30 seconds.
2. UDYAN BANDHA(Gheranda Samhita, Upadesha 3, Verse 10)
Be in the same posture for all steps. Exhale completely.Without inhaling, contract the bowels equally above and below the navel towards the back, so that the abdominal viscera may touch the back.Hold udyan bandha for as long as you can.When you can’t hold any more, release the abdomen and inhale slowly.Do this 21 times.
3. JALANDHAR BANDHA(Gheranda Samhita, Upadesha 3, Verse 12)
Inhale fully.Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat.Hold for as long as possible judiciously.Release the throat lock while exhaling slowly.Do this 21 times.

4. BHASTRIKA(Gheranda Samhita, Upadesha 5, Verse 75-77)
With a bellowing sound, forcefully blow air out of both nostrils so that your abdomen gets tucked in.Slowly allow the body to inhale.Do this 21 times.
5. SHEETKARI PRANAYAMA(Hatha Yoga Pradeepika, Upadesha 2, Verse 54)
Close your eyes.Press the lower teeth with the upper teeth and open the lips comfortably.Suck air through the gaps in between the teeth.Be aware of the sound produced.After inhaling, close the mouth and exhale through the nose.Do this 21 times.
6. SHEETALI PRANAYAMA(Gheranda Samhita, Upadesha 5, Verse 54)
Close your eyes.Protrude your tongue as much as possible.Roll the sides of the tongue like a tube.Now inhale through the tube formed by the tongue. You will feel the coolness in the mouth while inhaling.After inhaling, close your mouth.For a moment hold the breath.Exhale through both nostrils. Do this 21 times.

Every researcher that devoted time and energy to understanding stress in human beings has managed to unveil a temporary solution or two, but what nobody discovered was that laying an emphasis on anything, including the necessity of a stress-free life, brings in stress. There may be a thousand solutions to overcome this stress, but emphasizing on their importance will only bring in more and more conflict.
Anything done out of free will is a technique for a stress-free life, even if it is as simple as a hand movement. One way to live this life is by obtaining technical information about everything,
be it walking, cooking or talking. For example: Why does one breathe? Where does it lead? Does it help achieve a goal? If it doesn't, can it be changed? Lack of relevant technical information is the root cause of conflict and stress. At many points, human beings find themselves having desires that completely contradict each other. Bringing in the right technical information helps fuel the intelligence to understand that ultimately, only one of the conflicting desires can be fulfilled and helps in making an informed choice. In more ways than one, this technique brings tremendous clarity within.
Live Stress Free ! A Simple Technique

Understanding and adding information to the system helps iron out one's life. This process of ironing
out life is a spiritual routine that has been
observed by sannyasis and yogis all over
the world. Even the spiritual beings that
wandered observed this routine in the time
between Guru Poornima and Navaratri,
where they stayed put and added enough
information to ensure that they lived a
life completely devoid of stress. Every action is done as a conscious choice and is celebrated. Every individual who
seeks spiritual enlightenment is advised
to observe this technique, even for the
simplest of actions.
Basic observation can help infer that the
average individual does not stay within his
or her bodily boundaries while performing
the simplest of actions. It is much easier
to get caught up in a distant fantasy or in
an irrelevant train of imagination while in
the shower. Staying completely conscious
of oneself adds intensity to these actions
and cleanses the body and mind much
more effectively. Correctly applied, this
technique ensures the end of laziness
when it comes to physical work. It helps
one understand that it is lack of technical
information that allows lethargy to take
over.
There are five techniques to lead a stress free life. They involve bathing
consciously, having breakfast consciously,
going to work (or school) consciously,
having lunch consciously and at the end
of the day, falling asleep consciously. The
beauty of these techniques is that nothing
is changed from the routine; all that is
added is enough technical information to
eradicate stress and ensure that life is as
beautiful as it should be. n

“Why this ignorance in the world” is a song
inspired by the Tamil super hit song 'Why this
Kolaveri Di'. There was a discussion about
this song on why it became so popular and
how it ranked as CNN's most popular song
of 2011. Senthil, who was on his Christmas
break, immediately thought of creating a
flavor of that song themed around Swamiji.
The aim was to create a funny song in the
Kolaveri style to introduce Swamiji to new
people. When the lyrics were written, many
of Swamiji's devotees from the San Jose
sangha encouraged Senthil to compile
that as a full song and add that to youtube.
Since Senthil has no background in music
he approached Subrahmanya from the San
Jose sangha who has music skills.
Then the plot thickened and Subrahmanya
helped in adding the music and edited the
whole song with many beautiful pictures
of Swamiji which contributed to the fun
and devotion in the song. The video was
recorded by Senthil’s 11 year old daughter
inside the puja room in his house, using his
wife’s iphone! Subrahmanya manipulated
the audio from online to create a karaoke
version. Then they simply recorded singing
the new lyrics over the karaoke version.
After that Subrahmanya added some of
his favorite photos of Swamiji and other
images in a video editing software. Senthil
and Brahmanya were totally thrilled when
Swamiji complimented the song and showed
that multiple times during the satsang,
especially since the video was never formally
sent to anyone in the ashram! The video was
simply uploaded and shared through social
media, and somehow it reached Swamiji!
The best blessings for them from Swamiji
was him watching and enjoying the song so
much.

An eternal revelation, a mystery, a conscious
fire, a happening, an immeasurable energy,
an ocean of mysticism, a congregation of
enlightened beings, a place beyond space
and time – and, a completion of lifetimes.
Kailash, the abode of Shiva. The place

mind when I have to recount my Kailash
yatra to anyone. Yet, I am not able to say
much because I know that no matter what I
say, I cannot do justice to Mahadev, the One
who planted the desire in me to see Kailash,
and who made my Kailash yatra not only
possible, but also the ultimate fulfilment
life can offer me.
The Kailash yatra was only the beginning
of the actual yatra – life after Kailash! Even
though words are to the real experience
as puppets are to living beings, having no
other way to put my Kailash experience on
record, I will throw a flashback on one of my
most intense experiences of the yatra.
The Kailash parikrama in Tibet starts
from Darchhen and after an 8 km stretch
of mountains and valleys comes the first
halt at Dhirapuk. At Darchhen, where the
parikrama starts, the Kailash looks the way I
was expecting to see it – a holy mountain, at
a great distance, high up in the sky, standing
out majestically from the surrounding huge
rocks. As the parikarma progressed, I soon
lost sight of Kailash. Almost half way through
the journey, as I was gazing happily at the
hills and the rivers and the yaks, I suddenly
got the shock of my life. I almost fell from
my horse.
Kailash, The Ultimate Fulfillment

Kailash was at my eye level, almost as if just
a few hundred feet away! It was definitely
pretty far away still, I figured that out much
later, but it was so huge that it felt like
right next to me. Larger than life, in every
sense. I felt it a huge disrespect to Kailash
to be sitting on my horse, so I got down and
started walking for the rest of the journey,
unable to take my eyes off Kailash.
On reaching the Dhirapuk Guest House, I
dumped my bags in the room assigned to
me, and went out to gaze at Kailash. I sat
there, at a little distance away from people,
leaned against a rock, with the horses
neighing in the background and the chilly
wind reddening my nose, unwilling to close
my eyes even to blink. I sat for several
hours. How many, I don’t know. Though
I had uncountable mystical experiences
throughout the yatra, in the time stretch
when I sat lost in Kailash, I had no such
experiences. And yet, it was the most
fulfilling experience from the entire yatra.
It was almost as if I wanted to absorb the
very air, the very breath of Kailash and take
it away with me.
After coming back from the yatra, I still feel
as if that experience of being lost in Kailash
has become a very part of me, my life, my
very thinking. I feel like I have nothing more
to ask of life, and yet, there is an immense
excitement to do so many things in life, out
of gratitude to Swamiji and Mahadev. That,
to me, is the ultimate completion with life.

THE BAULS’ TRADITION
Vedic tradition has seen many streams of living enlightened masters, out of which many streams have dried up. The streams which have an unbroken lineage of living enlightened masters are Vedanta, Aghori, Tantra and Bauls. The Baul Mystics are not well known as a mainstream tradition just because of their habit of not having any property. That is the only reason they are not well known, otherwise they have all the qualifications to be respected as living stream of enlightened masters. The Bauls have a strong belief that the moment you start staying in one place, corruption starts happening. I do agree with it. Organization sometimes unconsciously forces people to dilute the truth. In a way I can say unconscious people will dilute the truth even if there is no organization.
That’s the reason I accepted to have an organization - because otherwise people are going to dilute the truth. But the Bauls are such a pure and uncompromising tradition that they they don’t have an organization or even a permanent place to stay. I had the fortune of spending some time in Bengal and being associated with some of the Baul sanyasis. The Baul sanyasis are not celibates
or unmarried. They live like a breeze. They travel place to place, sometimes alone, sometimes together. They sing so beautifully. Each Baul can at least sing two thousand verses. Sometimes the verses are of their predecessors, the early masters, sometimes it is their own spontaneous compositions.
THE MAIN THEME
But the main theme which runs through the Baul tradition is the pure love towards everything that exists; to the river, hill, sun, moon, plants, trees, animals and to themselves. Whatever exists they flood it with love. That is why they are not socially accepted, because they are such a joyful species. I can say, Bauls and Tantrics are actually a different species altogether - one of the most endangered species on planet earth. They are an altogether different species. It’s a different life. The very word “Baul” means (it’s a Bengali word) ‘mad’. If somebody else calls you mad, there is every possibility that you may get hurt. If you yourself declare I am ‘mad’, you are liberated. It is a great liberation from the social image.

THE “MAHAVAKYA”
Each tradition has a “mahavakya” - means the ultimate truth, the ultimate word. Vedanta has a mahavakya, Tantrics they have their mahavakya, Agoris have their own mahavakya. The mahavakya for Bauls is “NO to society and social hypocrisy”. One of the core messages they transmit to the disciples is to break free from social hypocrisy - the unconsciousness being carried from generation to generation and transmitted to you unconsciously without knowing why, what, without having any reason. Constantly, a kind of unconscious lifestyle, unnecessary lifestyle is made into a
legitimate living condition or trend and forced on human beings in the name of social etiquette or tradition. It is unnecessary social hypocrisy which keeps you away from enlightenment and is the cause of your suffering. The
BAULS’ KUMBHA MELA
Bauls are ultimate beings from my experience. I have seen Bauls in lakhs (1 Lakh = 100.000). Just like Vedantis have a Kumbha Mela in Allahabad and Haridwar, Nasik and Ujjaini, Bauls have their own Kumbha Mela in Calcutta. I’ll sincerely suggest at least all my disciples should make pilgrimage to the Bauls’ Kumbha Mela.

They gather every year. If you Google you will find out their date in Calcutta. They don’t have a big organization structure; only a few people maintain this website. Almost all Baul mystics gather. None of them are well known to society because they live such a beautiful life, such an innocent life that society cannot tolerate them. The collective unconsciousness cannot tolerate them so they don’t recognize the Baul mystics. I can say that it the most powerful congregation I have ever seen. There is a beautiful book called ‘Nine Lives’ which beautifully describes Bauls’ Kumbha Mela. The whole theme of their Kumbha Mela is only one line, ‘Say NO to social hypocrisy’.
The Bauls are an amazing people who
really live with a backbone. Even the Zen tradition has missed one point - not to have a permanent place to stay. There are only two traditions which still maintain that - Aghoris and Bauls. Aghoris don’t have permanent address, but they have monasteries where Aghoris can stay temporarily and then go somewhere else. But Bauls have not even compromised to that level. Bauls are literally like butterflies. They happen, fly, spread colors, and just disappear; nothing else. The only truth the Bauls radiate is ‘Say NO to all social hypocrisy’.
Sit today - you must be having thousands of social hypocrisies inside you now. Pick up only one, just one, and say no to it. n

There is a very intense meditation technique
called the “Ananda Tapas”. This involves
the meditator to sit within a circle of fire
for several hours for many days under the
supervision of the Master. This technique
dissolves the samskaras (biomemory)
completely and the engraved memories
are burned and boiled away. Paramahamsa
Nithyananda mentions a beautiful incident
in his past that happened when he was
performing the Ananda Tapas.
While doing the Ananda Tapas, he enlisted
the help of a villager to take care of tending
to the fire by adding more fuel to the fire.
The villager gathered wood and dried
cow dung cakes to keep the fire burning.
However he was a poor guy and had no
money to keep the fire burning continuously.
While Nithyananda was pondering upon this
situation, his eyes fell upon a lamp that he
received as a gift when he had gone to a
feast in Mysore. He gave this lamp to the
villager and instructed him to sell it to buy
the necessary fuel needed to keep the fire
burning. The villager came back saying
that it was a silver lamp and he got good
money back in return. Nithyananda was
surprised because the lamp was not made
of silver when he received it. He suddenly
remembered a sadhu (monk) who had
handled this lamp. This sadhu was a great
enlightened being who never needed
anything, no clothes, no food, no water and
no sleep. However the sadhu used to smoke
ganja (a local version of hashish or opium) by
placing it in a chillum (straight conical pipe
made of clay and used by wandering Hindu
sadhus). When his stock of ganja ran almost
empty he would place a few copper coins in
the chillum and would tap the ashes out of
the chillum and lo behold! Gold coins would
fall out of it. The copper coins miraculously
got converted into gold coins in his chillum.
The sadhu played with the lamp and gave it
back to Nithyananda.
After a few days the money received by
selling the silver lamp was exhausted, and
yet the meditation had to be continued.
Nithyananda remembered this sadhu and
jovially said within himself that the sadhu
should have changed it into a gold lamp
instead of a silver lamp.

The next day Nithyananda was invited to a
nearby ashram for bhiksha (gifted meal) as
a rich man was giving food and distributing
gifts to all the sadhus. He was shocked
when he received the same silver lamp
back from the rich man. The rich man said
that from the day he bought the lamp from
the villager, a sadhu appeared in his dream
everyday telling him to give the lamp to a
young swami. As the rich man noticed that
Nithyananda was the youngest among the
group that is why he was giving it back to
him. Nithyananda still needed money to
continue with his tapas hence he offered
to exchange the silver lamp for money with
the rich man. On hearing the reason for the
exchange, the rich man generously offered
to take care of all of Nithyananda's needs
for two months and did not take anything
back in return.
This is the greatness of enlightened beings.
With the highest purpose in mind, when
you make a request for help, they just
respond back to you irrespective of
time and space. In Nithyananda's life, a
casual, honest request to an enlightened
being for financial assistance to complete
his tapas, was immediately granted through
the generous rich man who came in search
of Nithyananda to offer monetary help. n
