When we start to design, its two people, sharing an unspoken like-mindedness — our doodles, sketches, ideas and thoughts working together in tandem, as if we are on a journey, to an unknown but amazing place.

Design inspiration for the collection was drawn from objects of natural beauty and Inuit and Scandinavian culture, in particular the Scandinavian weaving tech-nique, a tradition used in textiles and more recently adopted in contemporary design and architecture.

For Nikita this is a natural fit, allowing authenticity to flow with ease into the collection, whilst celebrating a craft steeped in heritage and provenance.

nikita commissioned one of the designers’ favorite musician / artist from iceland sindri már sigfússon, also known as sin fang, who had recently done an art piece on a skateboard with alien Workshop. the nikita design team worked together with the artist on both top sheet and base to achieve a hardcore, colorful snowboard graphic with a lot of attitude.

caroline is a french artist currently living in biarritz. her art has been featured on nikita streetwear since spring 2012. last season she was commissioned to created the sideway sista board graphic to help kick off the introduction of hardgoods into the nikita product offering. the design team loved the outcome so much that they wanted to work with her again for the 2014 board. her inspiration for this season’s nikita designs was the inuit culture. she found herself in a sweet & geometric mood where forms intertwine to create unique characters with soft colors like the light of fall and winter sunrays.
