Nidan journey with LAMPGround Zero.

Nidan was working with the waste pickers, livelihood issues in the slums of Patna.

2006 AIF visit to Patna and meet with waste pickers and other staff of swachh dhara team. Visited to the slum and saw the condition, special related with children education. AIF( Education) agreed to work with Nidan, after signing the agreement, Nidan started education project in slum of Patna.Nidan core team visit to Bodh in sep-2006 then in Dec-2006 Bodh team visit to nidan.

2007 1st Batch of 24 teacher goes to Bodh in Jan for 2 month training.AIF & Bodh team visit at Patna

2008 2nd and 3rd batch training at Jaipur through Bodh

2009 All center convert into school and 1st deficit class started for 1to2 & 3to5). 20 teacher batch for ToT training goes to Bodh

2010 All Nidan run center children and admitted in Govt. school ‘RTE’. Demonstration class with 150child (Prof. Dr. Jallaluddin)

2011-2012 LEMP program started with 13 govt. school through LEP, P.P, Tuition & 50govt. School on RTE.

2012-2013 LEMP program started with 25 (13old+12new) govt. school through LEP, Support, P.P, Tuition & LRC with RTE.

Nidan journey with LAMP1. Disadvantage group like waste pickers community get

aware about the importance of education.2. Each child under target 6-14 year age group, should be

linked with govt. school.3. Child under target 3-5 year age group, should be linked

with AWC.4. Universalization and improving quality of education in

urban slums at Patna.5. Community empowerment and they should own the

issue Importance of education.6. LAMP – Most neglected group like waste pickers poor

across to get institution. Overall education status is very poor.

7. LAMP has help NIDAN to develop a model of quality education with community engagement.

Objectives1. To achieve universal access to education among 3-6 years old children in

the slum and add new slums wards under coverage.2. To enrol all children of the 6-14 years age group in government schools,

especially those who are out of school 3. To enable children of classes III-V to clear literacy and numeracy deficits

New & illiterate VSS member election4. Set-up and run resource centres to enable children in classes VI-X

continue and support schooling through learning and counselling support.

5. To train communities and VSS/SMCs around the principles of the RTE act.

6. Support preparation, submission and implementation of SDPs.7. Social audit of learning implemented through preparation of Slum

education registers (SERs) in 25 direct & New intervention slums.8. To work with Government teachers, CRCs and BRCs to influence teaching

practices and address the root causes of learning deficit in schools.9. To raise awareness about child rights among communities, Nidan

Centers and government schools

Case Study

• Nidan Education Intervention got acknowledge. A middle school Bahadurpur has been awarded as one of best school out of 1172 school in Bihar. Total 1172 school sent his report from all over Bihar at 24 best school achievement points (Patna Best School Award with attachment). NIC selected 270 school in Bihar and a middle school Bahadurpur only one school get prize in Patna urban .

• Nidan has played great role in making this school a best school in patna. We are doing Academies support from 2012 to till date. Nidan support in LEP & Support class, we work on Deficit child with class 1 to 5 children, 3 teachers work with LEP child & one teacher for Class 1 & 2 child, as well infra studies activities.

• Presently this school Cover to 542 child. We have 5 toilets, urinal, Play ground, Rain water Harvesting, Drinking water facility, Badminton Curt, Plantation, Aqua-guard, three water storage tank (Syntax).

VSS Formation1. Motivate Parents & Community for VSS member selection & VSS Formation2. After Nidan Education Team afford Parents & Community member goes to School and give letter to H.M for his/her participation in VSS formation3. Meeting with Ward Parsad & Cluster coordinator for his/her participation in VSS formation4. H.M call nidan team for community involvement in VSS formation then Nidan Education team Meet to H.M and participates in VSS selection5. Meeting with H.M for Balsandad & Meena Manch children selection for his/her participation in VSS.6. After community member letter H.M call Parents & Community for General Meeting in School for participation in VSS formation.7. Finally VSS member selected in govt. school from nidan education intervention slum area
