(re)Creating Systems: Reclaiming Hunters PointSan Francisco, California

Hunters Point has become neighbors with an abandoned shipyard since it closed in 1994. This landscape is important as it is an access to the waterfront for a large community of people. My senior project proposes a newly developed ecological waterfront. Using various planting and vegetation schemes, the ultimate goal is to reclaim the land and transition it into a natural thriving ecosystem. One that not only supports wildlife but also allows for human interaction. (Project currently in progress)

Rubber Gates DistrictDenver, CO

This area is located in a dense urban region of Denver, just south of downtown. The site is surrounded by high end residential apartments and a major RTD light rail station is located just to the west.

The design intent is a mix of commercial and residential living. A large central promenade focuses on planting and vegetation schemes to create forms encouraging individuals to explore the site. The promenade serves as the main connection route to the light rail. This community is aimed to restore energy and bring back an iconic landmark of what was once Denver’s Rubber Gates Factory.

Fort Collins Visitor CenterFort Collins, Colorado

This visitor center is located on the edge of Fort Collins and I-25. The landscape is formed by large land formations that look to be interwoven with each other guiding a person though the space. Large shade structures noticeable from a distance would define the area as a landmark to Fort Collins.

A look into an amphitheater located on the Pourdre River. This minimal garden would be host to gatherings and concerts. It is a short walk from an elementary school and New Belgium Brewing company.

Looking across the reflection ponds in the main plaza of the residential buildings. This Moorish garden is in a busy part of Old Town and would be a popular destination for people passing by during the day and nighttime.

Morgan Library CourtyardColorado State University, Fort Collins

The desire for a new library courtyard has been wanted for some time now. This space is designed to invite and comfort students who are using the area. This programmatic design includes glass water walls and pocket seats allowing students to rest and study. Large quaking aspen trees extrude though the top of the building, giving shade and an environmental friendly feel to the courtyard.
