Powerful Pablo "Pimienta" Ojeda outpointed defending WBC International 130

Lbs Silver champion Horacio "Lacho" Cabral by split decision to become the

new champion.

Friday night April 20th at the Center for Physical Education Sports Center

(CEF) in Mercedes, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, by Argentina

Boxing Promotions of Mario Margossian.

In a much anticipated fight, Ojeda (#6 in Argentina) managed to provide a

great performance to break Cabral’s better technical skill.

Cabral, the WBC #24 contender and #1 in Argentina, had a better start

scoring with his jab followed by sharp right-hands to the upper zone. The

challenger, always taking the center of the ring, was imposing his power and

often landed his crossed rights on the face of the champion. With the duel

clearly marked between a technical fast and accurate champion and a confident and powerful challenger , the second half of the fight

turned in favor of the latter.

Much more concentrated on the action, "Pimienta” Ojeda pressed the champion with a good use of his hooks to the ribs of a rival that, in

some occasions, had to clinch. That difference in favor of the challenger in the last rounds turned out to be fundamental in order to end

up a highly competitive clash, which triggered the recognition of the enthusiastic packed crowd.

Ojeda, 58,950 kg., improved his mark to 15 victories (10 KOs) and 4 defeats.

Meanwhile Cabral, who had scaled 58,900 kg, dropped to 21 wins (8 KOs), 2 defeats and 1 no decision.

The final verdict was a close Split Decision:

Juan Carlos Palmieri 96-94 Ojeda

Jesuan Letizia 96-94 Ojeda

Jorge Basile 96-94 Cabral

Although both tired in the last part of the fight, Cabral and Ojeda gave everything they had and , after

the final decision was announced, both received the thunderous appreciation of the enthusiastic

audience.

Pablo Manuel PIMIENTA Ojeda is now the new WBC International Super Featherweight Silver champion
