1 ROSSMOYNE REFLECTIONS NEWSLETTER NO. 2 Friday 4th March 2016 Virtue of the Month for March - Respect Next Newsletter—1 April 2016 www.rossmoyneps.wa.edu.au SCHOOLWATCH: 1800 177 777 [email protected]PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members Congratulations! On behalf of the school community, I would like to congratulate the Councillors, Peer Mediators and Faction Captains and Vice Captains for their election into these leadership roles. These students received their badges and certificates at the assembly held on 18 February and they have all commenced their duties and responsibilities with efficiency and effectiveness. I look forward to their continued contributions to Rossmoyne Primary School throughout 2016. Public Holidays and School Development Day At yesterday’s School Development Day staff were involved in professional learning in a range of areas including HASS (History and Social Sciences), anaphylaxis, iPads and MacBooks. Please remember that for the Easter break all schools are closed on Good Friday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday. The last day of Term One is Friday 8 April. Term Two commences on Tuesday 26 April. School Board Thank you to all who nominated for the two casual Parent Representative vacancies on our School Board and to all those who chose to participate in the election process. The successful nominees will be included in the next newsletter. They will join Rowan Stokes, John Coombe, Vilma Velletri and George Atartis as your Parent Representatives. The first School Board meeting for the year is on Monday 14 March at 7.30 pm. The agenda will include the Community Use of School Facilities, advertising, 2015 to 2018 School Plan and a finance update. Visiting School All parents and carers are reminded to please sign in at the front office if you are visiting your child or going to assist in their classroom or other area of the school. As your child/ren’s safety is of paramount importance to us, we need to know who is on school site at all times. Additionally, signing in ensures we can ensure the safety of all visitors in the event of a lockdown or evacuation. Children’s Medical Conditions If your child’s medical conditions have changed, please ensure you advise the front office. Bike Locks If your child/ren ride their bike to school, please remember to send a bike lock with them so they can secure their bike throughout the school day. Swimming Trials and Carnival Sincere thanks to Mr Wilson for his efforts organising these events which ran smoothly and successfully. Thanks also to all the parents who assisted and came to spectate and cheer. Our students are to be commended on their exceptional behaviour, sportsmanship and perseverance and our Year 6 Faction Captains are to be congratulated on the responsible leadership they displayed. Contributions and Charges Thank you to the families who have already made the effort to pay the Contributions and Charges for this year so promptly. If you are still to pay, please consider completing this by the end of term as it saves us having to send out reminder letters. Parent Teacher Meetings Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to attend the recent Parent Teacher Meetings. Your interest and involvement is greatly appreciated. I encourage all parents to maintain regular contact with your child’s teacher throughout the remainder of the year.
