“We are hourly wage people and it is neckto neck with what we earn and spend. So, itis really hard times for us.” Florence andRuby from Dunkin Donuts
“We lost a whole week's pay for our hourlyemployees. I was driving back and forthfrom Queens at 4 in the morning to pick upsome of our workers. I didn't want to saythat no one could not work and I didn'twant to cut anyone off completely. So Idecided to cut everyone's hours by 10 so
that the money could be dispersed evenly.”Rick, WashClubNYC Owner
“"If we don't work, we don't get paid. Sothe storm was bad for us“ Muhammad &Azez, Street Vendors
The Impact:
“This sent chills down my spine. A truly good person,
and another story of someone paying it forward. I'll
never look at taxi cab drivers quite the same. Nicolae
changed me, this experience changed me.” Sam
“It is much appreciated and as the founder of David's
Hairstyling it puts a smile on my face to know that there
is such goodness in this world… You are an inspiration to
us all and an amazing example for our children . God
bless.” David’s Hairstyling
“"This is the first time anyone has ever really cared
about me. This is definitely going down in the books! I
really appreciate it, thank you.“ – Daryl from FedEx
“I felt especially indebted to Gisele, the salad girl, who
knows my order like the back of her hand…She came up
to me with tears in her eyes and was so grateful.. but allshe could think about was her fellow co-workers... she
didn't want to take the money all for herself.” Jackie
“After this my husband was dropping me at the station
and he said "very proud of you and your company". It is
funny he never said proud of you to me any time
before.” - Lokeya

John & Laura’s School Visit “I have been proud to work for Next Jump for over three years, but have never been as proud to be a “NextJumper”
as I am today. Last week, I had the opportunity to visit two schools with projects funded through OO.com with mycolleague John. From meeting first-class educators, to experiencing a school day from a child’s perspective, the trip
moved me beyond what I could have imagined.” Laura
“It is hard to convey a father's pride when he sees his son's professional and personal aspirations come together
and make such a difference in the lives of others. I am very proud of you John”
Gamification by Design“In an effort to get the staff more fit (and reduce absenteeism/health care expenditures), CEO Charlie Kim hadgyms put into every office and devised a novel challenge where employees who worked out the most wereoffered a cash prize. Participation grew from 12% to 70% when the company made the competition team-
based [versus individual]. The power of group reinforcement is such that despite a decline in the expectedreward (more people splitting the pool), engagement shot up substantially.”
The Gamification Revolution“NextJump understands the need to make engagement a key objective. The company’s founder, Charlie Kimtook 15+ years to build NextJump, an employee incentive provider, into one of the powerhouses of thatcutthroat industry. Along the way, the organization has developed a corporate culture that is the envy of most of its competitors. They are a glowing example of a “practice what you preach” community.”
Jim Loehr
The Only Way to Win“Charlie Kim, CEO of Next Jump, an Internet marketing company, sets aside specific time during workweeksfor his employees to donate their effort and talents to a community project of their choosing . The premiumliquor company Diageo engages in clean water initiatives in Africa and disease remediation in theCaribbean. Employees run for miles to raise money for charities and are sponsored by their company andfellow employees. These are but two of countess examples of companies helping their employees realizeintrinsic success.”

Janet Hanson: Charlie, You are training NxJ'ers to care about people who will never be sensationalized in the press — day in and dayout, they just do their jobs. What must give you absolute chills — when someone says "thank you for thinking of us" or "thank you forasking a question that no one else has posed" -- you are creating an entire generation of inspired, compassionate leaders. That is, atthe end of the day, what NxJ is really all about. You are creating a model of leadership that is so different, so caring, so amazing — allthanks to you – you make me so immensely proud to know you! :)
Bill Donavan (HPI Institute): Hi Charlie, As I read the article “10 Reasons Your Top Talent Will Leave You”, I thought of Next Jump, acompany that represents the antithesis of issues in this article. Imagine an article that is about “The Top 10 Reasons your EmployeesWon’t Leave: The Next Jump Example” Have a great holiday!
Beth Ann Kaminkow: “I wanted one of my first emails to be to you. You were one of (if not THE) biggest (unexpected) source of inspiration and energy in 2012 for me. I so appreciate the role your 'company' (all meanings) played in my life.”
Jim Loehr: “Charlie: Of all the people I would like to give thanks for in my life, you surface immediately. The impact you had had on me and so many lives is beyond calculation. You’re breaking the mold on how to drive business results that are sustainable.”
David Marquet: “I got asked in a talk the other day who was “doing it right” – Charlie Kim, says I!!!”
Tim O’Reilly: “I am an adviser to NextJump. I really like the way they build social mission thinking into their entire organization, in areasranging from healthcare to education. There are lessons here that go beyond any specific project.”
Will Marre “This is truly amazing...truly. How can we remake the entire concept of business leadership in this image?”
Simon Sinek “Love being a part of this with you. Love being by your side as you build the company of the future.”
Cary Chessick “So great is an understatement.”

Kevin Parker, our largest investor, is also an investor of an energy company that uses bio wasteto convert to energy. Years ago, when the company was headed towards a deep slump, theycalled upon Kevin to advise. Kevin agreed to sit down with the two founders to help come upwith a solution that would turn the business around.
At the time, the company, along with the rest of the industry, used cow manure as their
conversion source for energy. At the meeting, Kevin simply asked the founders, “What shitproduces the most energy ounce for ounce?” The founders, never having considered thisbefore, discussed for few minutes and came back to him with an answer. They said, “Ounce for ounce, egg-laying chicken shit produces the most energy because the chickens are fed thehighest quality food.”
After this simple discovery, the company began building their energy plants on egg-layingchicken farms. This decision gave the company greater returns for the same level of effort.
