I am the music teacher at St Mary's Elementary this year. I have been teaching music for over twelve years. I have an Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Nazareth College in Rochester and a Master's degree from D'Youville College. During my undergraduate degree I studied general and instrumental music. My main instrument is the saxophone although I am famil- iar with most band instruments as well as piano and guitar. In my free time, in addition to music, I like to read, sew, cross stitch, and travel. I have had the opportunity to travel to many countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe, for both recreational and educational purposes. I enjoy bringing my love of travel into the music classroom by sharing music and instruments from the places I have visited. This past year I even had the opportunity to teach Music and English in Germany. I am happy to be back in the United States teaching music to such a wonderful group of students. I look forward to a great year here at St. Mary's Elementary. • Watch your child learn, grow, and save! Opening a savings account with your child is one of the most effective ways to teach them about money. The goal of our School Savings Program through St. Mary’s Elementary is for students to develop money management skills and personal responsibility and to discover the benefits of saving. Students are able to make deposits into their very own savings account and are rewarded for every dollar they save!

Here’s how the School Savings Program works:

Visit us at 30 Brunswick Rd, Depew, NY 14043 to open an account with your child OR send in the attached sign-up form to school to receive the necessary paperwork and further instructions.

Once your child’s account is opened, we will provide a cash envelope with a label attached for you to include your child’s name, teacher, and room number. They can place their deposit inside the envelope on “banking day”.

Every Thursday morning is “banking day” (when school is in session). To make a deposit in school, your child can bring their cash envelope to the main office to place in our School Banking lock box.

A credit union employee will visit St. Mary’s Elementary to collect any deposits. They will then be brought back to the credit union to be processed.

Each time your child makes a deposit through school, their deposit receipt and cash envelope will be returned to them at school in a sealed envelope. If you do not wish to receive a paper receipt, we can email you a receipt instead (upon request).

Once their account is open, your child will also be given a Star Sticker Book. They will receive 1 star sticker for every $1 saved to place in the sticker book (up to a maximum of 5 stickers per week). Once their book is filled, they can bring it to the Credit Union and choose a prize from our prize bin! Earned stickers will be sent back to school with your child’s cash envelope after every school deposit.

Deposits can also be made at any time at the credit union.

More information about our credit union can be found on the back. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (716) 681-1460, or by email to [email protected].

  • What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution owned by the members and operated for their mutual benefit. It is run by a volunteer board of directors voted in by members of the credit union. It is a different way to “bank” that places you in charge. Rather than paying profits to stockholders, credit unions return earnings to members in the form of higher savings dividends, lower loan rates, and improved products and services.

    How We Began

The Lancaster-Depew FCU was chartered in 1957 to provide financial services to the employees of the Lancaster Central School District. Since that time, we have expanded our services to several other groups and associations. Within the St Mary’s family, students, teachers, staff, and their families—parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, stepchildren, grandparents, etc, are eligible to join. An entire list of eligible groups can be found on our website at www.lancasterdepewfcu.org.

    How Safe is My Money?

Deposits are insured up to $250,000 through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The NCUA is a federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions.
