InformationWeek Mexico and Netmedia Research define innovation as “the enabling of a strategy, through the creative and vanguard use of Information Technologies that reflect on clear and quantifiable benefits for the company.

Information Week publishes the “The 50 most innovative companies” report (study created each year by Netmedia Research) recognizing the companies and people that work in them, for outstanding creative use of IT to add value to the business and create competitive advantage, optimizing the business processes, helping to the business growth and improving the relationship with customers.

[InformationIT Technologies]

The 50 most innovative companies of 2011

IT departments transform organizations and their way of competing in the market. With applied technology in a business innovation frame, a great need for change and transformation is perceived, and the CIO (Chief Information Officer) should align with that direction strategy and contribute with distinctive solutions that help satisfy business expectations, like channel expansions, new product development or attraction of more costumers.

FruitsTo increase product variety Agrana Fruit Mexico has created for you, we now present dry infused fruit, fruit that goes through two dehydrated processes: osmotic infusion and hot air. Their presentation comes in tidbits with concentrated flavor to be applied in bakery products, ice cream, dairy and more.

Agrana dry infused fruit products are obtained from carefully selected fruits, which are treated to be dehydrated, achieving consistency, flavor and aroma according to their nature.

The application of the phenomenon of osmosis dehydration in fruits can be used due to the fact that a good number of fruits have the necessary elements to induce the osmosis. These elements correspond to the pulp, which in these fruits consists of a more or less rigid cellular structure that acts as a half permeable membrane.

The ingredients we use are natural, aligned to healthy and wellbeing trends!

People Inside

Personal dataName: Gerardo García González

Age: 42 years oldBirthplace: Zamora, Mich.

Profession: Degree in Computer System.

Gerardo Garcia presents his success story where he started as an Assistant and now it the IT Director for Mexico and Latin America and being named one of the best Mexican CIO by CIO Infoword magazine in “Los 100 mejores CIO de México” (The 100 best CIOs in Mexico) .

I: Gerardo, thank you very much for your time. Could you please introduce yourself?

G: I have been working for Agrana for 20 years, I began as an assistant and am now in charge of the

Information Technologies Administration in Mexico and Latinamerica. I am pleased to have developed

a team of people whom I consider to be highly professional and committed to what they do, which has

led my IT Department to be a “hot bed” of people we “export”. I have been responsible for the design

and implementation of all IT services in Brazil's plant during its foundation. I was part of the JD Edwards

implementation project in Mexico, Brazil and United States for Global Sourcing Organization (GSO) as a

Manager.

My team and I participated in the “Agrana Fruit/Juice SAP Roll Out World Tour 2002-2012”. Netmedia,

Marcus Evans and the Spanish company iiR have invited me to give innovation conferences as well as to

be a panelist at discussion tables. Because of this performance and my work team we have been

acknowledged for 4 consecutive years as one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in Mexico according

to Information Week and the consulting firm Ernst & Young. Having occupied the best position in 2009 thwhere we were named the 5 National Most Innovative Company in the IT field. Due to this I was

named one of the top CIO in Mexico by CIO Infoward Magazine in their “100 Best CIOs in Mexico).

Page 10: Newsletter_1_English

I: How was the beginning of your professional carreer?

G: I started in Siasmex (now the packing unit in Agrana

Fruit Mexico) in January 1991. You can say I've been part

of Agrana's growth and development since the

beginning because my first day on the job was the first

day the Packing unit started their operations and

Preparations only had 2 production lines, so you can

imagine the sales volumes. I have always been head of

the IT department, even when the position was named

“assistant” and there was only one computer for the

entire company. Two years later I was promoted to

supervisor, after 6 years I was promoted again and was

finally promoted to manager in the year 2000. Some

years later I was named IT Director in Mexico and later IT

Director of Latinamerica.

I: What does it mean to you to have won the “100 Best CIO” award in your country?

G: First of all, I am proud and satisfied that the

accomplishment of the goals and efforts made were

acknowledged, especially at that level. Then, it

confirmed my idea which has always motivated me: as

far as you develop your team (subordinates) is as far as

you can develop yourself, you can't take a step forward or

higher if you don't have a good support. Finally, it meant

I have to endorse the commitment of continuous

improvement because the expectations and demands

towards a person who receives this kind of recognition

are greater.

“We have to get things done, not wait until they happen”

People Inside

I: Which factors would you consider were essential in achieving your success?

G: I can summarize it in one line: “We have to get things done, not wait until they happen”. For this,

you need to first have a very clear vision of what you want to be in the future; then you must carefully

analyze what you need to achieve this defined goal, and finally you must work hard to achieve these

defined requirements. At this point, the people around you play an important role because each one

of them will help you or hold you back in your growth. And finally, self-criticism and redefinition of

your vision of the future, because the future is not as far as you think and when you get there you

must start all over again.

I: Finally, which are the main plans for Agrana Fruit Mexico's IT Team?

G: First of all, there are two very important subjects; one is the collaboration and integration of IT with

Clients and the other one is to work on implementing tools that will provide timely and truthful

information at all levels. Secondly, to consolidate the SAP SSC Americas, where 5 more members of

my staff will be transferred to Agrana Beteiligungs to operate this Organization from Jacona. And

third, to consolidate AFM's business line base on Its service billings, with the ASM Roll Out as its first

project in all the facilities of the Agrana group in all its divisions.

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with us Gerardo, We wish you much success in all your life projects.
