President's Post

Every Friday, even through the holiday breaks, great delight awaits us when we meet up with our group of

delightful walkers at Jells Park. As we wander down the hill towards the lake there is the opportunity to

catch up with U3A members who by now have established a cheerful friendship.

This friendship spreads across all of our U3A groups as I found out when I went to visit the musical

keyboard group. There, a dedicated group of members were tickling the notes of their keyboards at their

own pace, taking a coffee break half way through to catch up with their group members. Such a cheerful

group and so much laughter lead by their fun and dedicated tutor, Graeme Kinzett.

Drawing and painting elicit many great stories that waft around, bringing obvious pleasure from the room at

the end of Mulgrave Community Centre when the small band of artists try their hand at creating colourful

pieces that please not only themselves, but many others. Several of the members have shown that they came

to this self-motivated group without prior experience and now, now they create great pleasure. Experienced

members have supported new and budding artists with a lovely feeling of joie de vivre.

HEAR FROM OUR TUTORS AND MEMBERS

From: the participants of U3A Wheelershill Spanish class

Hola Amigos

Our Spanish class is getting to be a lot of fun. During our last attendance, we were introduced to

Diana, a childhood friend of Yolanda, our tutor.

Diana is a charming lady from Argentina who is on a visit to Melbourne. Diana spoke no English

but was patient in answering all our questions. Our knowledge of Spanish is basic but it was a

thoroughly enjoyable morning.

All are happy in the new premises at the Mulgrave Community Centre. The classroom is well laid

out and cosy.

Participants are there for various reasons. From those with a thirst for knowledge, impending travel

to a Spanish speaking country, having Spanish relatives etc. to those who simply desire to socialise

and have a good time.

Our thanks to Yolanda for being warm and welcoming to all students.

Adios por ahora (Bye for now)
