from page 1 This development commences on 17 August 2015 with completion date set for the end of November 2015. In consultation with the builder we have decided to shift the Chapel Street Campus to East Terrace for the duration of the building project on Thursday 13 August 2015. The decision has been based on

student safety and uninterrupted learning for our students. Thank you to our Chapel Street students, parents and staff embracing this temporary inconvenience, thus supporting a great outcome for our students.

Included in this newsletter are the architectural drawings showing the

ELC redevelopment and architectural impressions of our playground redevelopment.

On Wednesday 5 August 2015 we were entertained and serenaded by the enthusiastic team of Music is Fun band members. Lots of our Tyndale students were transformed into crazy frogs, star trekkers, lanterns, toy cars, members of the Adams Family and human cupcakes – just to name a few!A special highlight was seeing the Year 5 and 6’s ‘Living Loud’ with their very own choreographed dance moves and hearing some of our brave students sing a solo to ‘Lanterns’ by Birds of Tokyo. The Music is Fun band members even introduced us to some cool

sounds of instruments with solos and jams. They even made up a song on the spot with the line “I’m not lying when I say I’m a Lion.”

Our students did a wonderful job participating and enjoying the morning. It was good to see our parents enjoying the show too - thank you to those who came out in support. Thank you also to the band for putting the FUN in Music.

BREMER TAKES THE WIN

Tuesday, the third week of term commenced the Middle School indoor soccer grand final between Bremer and Angas. Bremer dominated over Murray and Angas had a tight match against Finniss. The first half of the match was quite limited, with both teams missing their shots at goals and not being able to capitalise on possessions. The second half came with teams making slight structural alterations. The teams took their time settling into the game and halfway through the second half Bremer scored the first goal. Following their late start to the game Bremer

continued on and streak to score consecutive goals which allowed them to win the game.

It was an impeccable game to observe with both teams incorporating every individual in their team into the game. Both teams displayed impressive athletic ability and sportsmanship throughout the game. Also, commendable efforts by the Year 12 umpires for their time.

SCIENCE ExPO A HUGE HITWe thought that today was a really good experience. We got to witness and learn about numerous types of science, from wildlife and marine biology to forensic science. There were various great demonstrations, many of which we were able to participate in and have a hands on experience. We all had a great time, and

it is definitely something that we would recommend for the years to come.

COOKING ON A BUDGET IN CHILD STUDIESChild studies is one of the more popular subjects for students in any secondary school syllabus. The curriculum lends itself to developing abilities for any students wanting to pursue careers where people skills are important.

Learning what makes children think and behave the way they do gives tremendous insight into how we relate to others throughout life. The students at Tyndale Christian School Strathalbyn have practical and research tasks to undertake throughout the year.

The Year 10 class have just completed a very challenging unit on budgeting, planning researching and completing a practical exercise around creating a healthy affordable meal for a newly pregnant mother who may be challenged with morning sickness.

Researching what nutritional needs and what might be appealing is an important starting point. Trying to keep a two course meal to a budget of under $10 is much harder. Working through cost effective ways of providing nutritious food needed some adaption and creative skills.

The process was certainly rewarding for students. They completed the practical component of preparing, cooking and ‘plating up’ a very attractive array of meals. This is just one of the enjoyable aspects of this type of subject that students are completing this year.

SECONDARY STUDENTS BAKE THEIR BLUES AWAYBeyond Blue is an organisation that raises awareness and helps people who suffer from depression and anxiety. They have an annual event called ‘Bake Your Blues Away’ which our School decided to do by dedicating an assembly to raise awareness amongst the student community.A group of students baked cupcakes for every Secondary student to decorate with blue icing and decorations.A guest speaker, Aswiin Kumar - who works with Beyond Blue - came and shared his testimony on how he overcame severe depression and anxiety.Students also had the opportunity to wear blue clothes for the day and in turn bring a gold coin to help raise funds for this important cause.Caitlyn EvansPeer Support Leader
