New appointments

Andy ClaytorAndy Claytor has joined HEXPOL Compounding on May 29, 2012, as Regional Sales Director for our Upper Midwest and Canadian region. In

this role Andy will direct the sales activity and market focus for both the Gold Key Processing and Burton Rubber Processing companies. Andy Claytor originally joined Burton Rubber Processing in December, 1988, and worked for 10 years in various sales and marketing roles. Andy has a B. S. in Business Administration, and an Executive MBA from Kent State University.

Mark GeorgeMark George has accepted the position of Managing Director of HEXPOL Compounding NC, Inc effective January 2, 2012. Mark is a gra-

duate of the University of North Alabama and has been in the Rubber Industry for 17 years. He has been employed by HEXPOL for seven years as a Quality and Technical Manager. In his first four months as Managing Director Mark has implemented a Leadership training program, set records for the site in EBIT and inventory turns and set the site to a new standard.

The Burton Ohio team recently

came through like a shining star for

Henniges Automotive, one of our key

customers. The customer’s corporate

sourcing office received a call late on a

Friday afternoon asking for help with

a key compound needed to make parts

for GM. The parts had failed, due to no

fault of HEXPOL, and Henniges was

in danger of shutting down one of the

GM assembly plants (a very expensive

event if it were to happen).

The customer called HEXPOL and

asked if there was any way for us to

mix compound yet that same Friday

evening. After a quick raw material

review, we determined that one ingre-

dient was lacking. The customer was

able to locate this ingredient and have

a courier pick it up and deliver it to

Burton.

Our Burton team then sprang into

action. Several associates braved a

winter ice storm and came back to the

plant at 11pm the same day. They

made recipe modifications on the fly

in order to make the compound work

in the customer’s extrusion process.

We mixed in the middle of the night

and the customer arranged for a truck

to pick up compound at 6:00 am on

Saturday. The material was expedited

to the customer ‘s extrusion plant and

successfully made into parts.

Through the quick action of the Burton

team and many associates, our custo-

mer was able to avoid a catastrophic

situation.

”The Franklin Family YMCA extends our

appreciation to HEXPOL Compounding

for their support of our youth soccer

program. Our youth sports program

offers players ages 3 - 12 the chance to

improve their skills, increase confidence,

make new friends, be active and learn

from adult role models (volunteers) com-

mitted to the YMCA’s values of caring,

honesty, respect and responsibility. In

many cases youth activities such as the

soccer program would not exist without

the support of local employers. Thank

you for your support and investment in

our community! ”

Jodi Schroer

Executive Director, Franklin County, US,

YMCA

After 24 successful years at the

helm, Per G. Hellberg retired from

his position as managing director

of the ELASTO businesses in June.

PG joined Elastoteknik in 1988,

then a relatively small company

based on the shore of Lake Vänern

in Åmål, Sweden. Since then his

journey has taken him across the

globe as he captained the compa-

ny through various growth evolu-

tions and changes in line-up. 2002

was a significant milestone as the

Swedish company was acquired by

British Vita and the partnership

with ELASTO UK (then known as

VTP) began. Countless trips to the

UK later (ask and PG can tell you

the malt whiskey offers in the duty

free shop at Manchester airport!)

PG helped the two sites cultivate a strong

alliance; with shared material expertise,

a growing product portfolio and operatio-

nal best-practices.

HEXPOL’s acquisition of ELASTO in

2010 marked the next exciting chapter

under PG’s leadership, opening up new

opportunities and expansion. With the

latest addition, Müller Kunststoffe, joi-

ning the team at the start of 2012, the

sites in Sweden and Manchester have

united with two production sites in

Germany, and a fifth site under con-

struction in China. Thereby further

establishing the group as a leading

global supplier of TPE and compli-

mentary compounds.

Throughout this evolution, PG has

fostered a culture of customer focus,

keeping the philosophy of solving

customer’s problems at heart of the

business. He inspired and challenged

all the members of team ELASTO to

be the best and continually look

for opportunities to improve (whilst

having some fun along the way as

PG liked to see employees that are

happy in their work!).

A well-known figure in the industry:

customers, suppliers, journalists,

employees old and new; all have

a smile and PG story to tell. All

would agree it’s been an exciting journey

so far. PG will continue to support the

company’s evolution as a Board Member

of ELASTO Sweden AB and ELASTO

UK Ltd and through his work as a senior

adviser within the HEXPOL Group.
