Congratulation to Miss Anna Evans who was recently therecipient of a UMAP scholarship 2014 from theMinistry ofEducation,Thailand.Annaisasecond-yearstudentatBUUIC,majoringintheHumanResourcesDevelopmentProgram.Atpresent,sheisstudyingatAppalachianStateUniversity,intheUSAforonesemester(January–May2014).MissAnnahasanexcellentacademicrecord,herGPAis3.90.InadditionshehasreceivedseveralacademicawardsforexcellenceatBUUIC and scored 7.5 on the IELTS test. FollowingencouragementfromherfamilyandBUUICtoapplyforthescholarship,shehasbeenrewardedwiththisgreatopportunitytostudyabroad.
Congratulation toMissSalisaKunem,a secondyear studentmajoringinLogisticsManagementwhohasbeenawardedafullASEMDuoScholarship2014 from theMinistryofEducation,Thailand.ThisscholarshiprequiresapartnerUniversityinEurope.MissSalisaiscurrentlystudyingatMontpillierBusinessSchoolinFranceforonesemester(January–May2014).AtthesametimeMontpillierBusinessSchoolhassentastudent,Mr.CharlesTirollet,tostudyatBUUICforonesemesteraswell.

During2-14January2014,agroupof19studentsledbyMissPassarinPhalitnonkiatandMr.ParinyaNakpathom,instructorsfromBUUIC,visitedtheRepublicofKoreainordertoparticipateintheGlobalBusinessLeadershipCamp2014at theCollegeofEconomicandManagementatChungnamNationalUniversity (CNU).Thereweremanyactivitiesrelatedtoculturallearning,forexample,businessclassesinwhichstudentslearnedhowKoreanbusinesshasgrownfromthepasttothepresent.Inaddition,therewasacookingclassduringwhichallstudentsenjoyedmakingKoreanfoodtogether.ThegroupalsotraveledtoothercitiessuchasSeoulandBusan.EveryonewasabletogotoMujuSkiResortwhichisaboutonehourfromtheuniversity.Moreover,theThaistudentsperformedfortheKoreanprofessorsandstudents.TheyalsocookedThaifoodfortheKoreans.EveryoneenjoyedtheirstayinKorea.

OnJanuary10,2014,ProfessorPierangeloPerivisitedBUUICandgavevaluablesuggestionsandinformationforthestudentswhoareinterestedinapplyingfortheErusmusMundusScholarshipProject2014.Heshowedthestudentshowtoprepareanattractiveapplication.InadditionProf.PierangeloencouragedallstudentstoapplyforthisscholarshipbecausethisisoneofthebestscholarshipsfromtheEuropeanUnion.

OnJanuary14,2014,BUUICwelcomedteachersandstudentsfromthe12thgradeatPiboonbumpenDemonstrationSchool,BuraphaUniversitytoparticipateinaBUUICOpenHouse.Duringtheirvisittheyallhadanopportunitytolookaroundthecollegeandsitinsomeacademicclasses.
Between18th-27thJanuary2014,Dr.KarenFernandez,HeadofHotel/Restaurant&TourismManagementfromIMUSINSTITUTE,PhilippinesvisitedBUUICasaVisitingProfessorforaspeciallectureandworkshopforBUUICstudentsintheInternationalTourismandHotelManagementProgram.Thethreemaintopicsofthespeciallectureandworkshopwere:(1.)HotelBusinessPlanningandDevelopment:ThelinkagesbetweentheHotelIndustryandASEAN2015(2.)ManagingOrganizationsandHumanResourcesintheTourismandHospitalityIndustryforAEC2015(3.)TheImportanceofCustomerServiceintheTourismandHospitalityIndustry.Inadditiontoenhancingouracademicprogramintourismandhotelstudies,Dr.Fernandez’svisitalsoinvolvedsomeresearchcollaboration.Therewillbethreejoint-researchpapersproducinginvolvingDr.Fernandez,IMUSINSTITUTE,PhilippinesandMr.Samart Plangpramool, Mrs.Sirintorn Thepmongkorn and Dr.KumutineeWorasuwan, the administrative team ofBuraphaUniversityInternationalCollege(BUUIC),Thailand.

Assoc.Prof.RanaPongruengphant,DeanofBuraphaUniversityInternationalCollege,Ms.SirintornThepmongkorn,theAssociateDeanforGlobalAffairs,andotherBUUICfacultymemberswerepleasedtowelcome9exchangestudentsonthe20thofJanuary2014, .Theywere:fivestudentsfromBruneiDarussaram,onestudentfromMontpellierBusinessSchool,France,onestudentfromAppalachianStateUniversity,USA,andtwostudentsfromIndonesia(UIBandTrisakti).FollowinganorientationtheyattendedBUUICfortheSpringSemester2014whichranfromJanuarytoMay2014.UpontheirarrivalallthestudentswerepresentedwithsouvenirsbytheDean.
During23Januaryto5February2014,Assoc.Prof.RanaPongruengphant,DenaofBUUICgaveawarmwelcometoProf.RhoJoonHwa,BeakMinji,togetherwith23studentsfromChungnamNationalUniversity,SouthKoreawhowerevisitingBUUICaspartoftheGlobalBusinessLeadersipCamp2014.DuringtheirtwoweekvisitthevisitorswereinvolvedinmanyactivitiesandnewexperiencesinThailand.TheKoreaninstructorsandstudentswenttoPattayaandKohLanwheretheyenjoyedswimmingatthenicebeach.TheyalsovisitedmanyplacessuchasNongNuchtropicalgardenwhichisoneofthemostbeautifulgardensinThailand.TheyboughtalotofsouvenirsattheFloatingMarketPattayaaswell.Theyalsowenttothezoo.TheKoreanstudentslearnedalotaboutThaiculturebyattendingmanyclassesbyThaiinstructors.Onthelastday,theKoreanstudentsperformedatafare-welldinnerwhichwasattendedbyThaiinstructorsandstudentstoo.

OnJanuary29th,2014,Assoc.Prof.Dr.RanaPongruengphant,DeanofBUUIC,ledagroupcomprisedofselectedAssociateDeansandBUUICfacultymembersalongwithstudentsfromBUUIC,theFacultyofSportsScience,andtheFacultyofPublicHealthonaonedayfieldtriptoBaanNongYaiSchool,SanamchaikedDistrict,Chacheng-SaoProvince.Themainpurposeofthevisitwastodonatesomemuchneededlearningmaterialstotheschool.Therearecurrentlyabout170studentsaged4to11enrolledattheschoolwhowillbenefitfromthiswelcomeadditiontotheireducationalfacilities.ThischaritableeffortwasmadepossiblethroughdonationsprovidedbyBUUIC,theFacultyofSportScience,theFacultyofPublicHealth,theBuraphaUniversityCentralLibrary,andCUBookCenteratBuraphaUniversitywhichincludedmoney,teachingaids,books,stationary,sportsequipment,clothes,toys,andsnacks.InadditionstudentsfromBUUIC’sStudentClub,BUUICexchangestudents,seniorstudentsmajoringinCommunicationSkillsforHRDandstudentsfromtheFacultyofSportScience,alsotheFacultyofPublicHealthledavarietyofactivitiesfortheBaanNongYaistudents.SomeoftheseactivitiesfocusedonEnglishwhileothersemphasizedhygieneandphysicaleducation.

Dr.JesseL.Lutabingwa,AssociateViceChancellor for InternationalDevelopment,AppalachianStateUniversity,visitedBUUICbetweenFebruary6-8,2014inordertofollowuponthedoubledegree2+2programinvolvingAppalachianStateandBUUIC.TherearepresentlysixBUUICstudentswhoareparticipatinginthisprogram.Onestudent,MissTanyalakKanwiboon,majoringinManagement,whowillbepartofthefirstbatchofthisprogram,hasfulfilledallcourserequirementsandwillstartherstudiesatAppalachianStatethiscomingFall2014.Theother5studentswhoaremajoringinLogisticsManagement(2),InternationalBusinessManagement(2),andBusinessInformationSystem(1),areplanningtogotoAppalachianStateinJune2015.Dr.LutabingwawasalsogreetedbyMr.MichaelEvans,thefatherofMissAnnaEvans,aBUUICstudentwhohasbeenawardedaUMAPscholarship2014togostudyatAppalachianStateUniversity.MissAnnaismajoringinHumanResourceDevelopmentprogram.SheiscurrentlystudyingatAppalachianStateUniversityuntilMay2014.

Mr.ParinyaNakpathomandMissKrita-OrnChewwasung,BUUIC instructors from the InternationalTourismManagementprogramand1st-3rdyeartourismstudentsvisitedsomefamoustouristdestinationsinthenorthofThailandbetweenFebruary5-9,2014.Theobjectiveofthistripwastostudyhistorical,cultural,architecturalaspectsofThailandaswellasprovideanopportunityforthestudentstopracticeintheroleofconductingatour.Moreover,thestudentsgainedentertainmentandserviceskillsduringthetrip.Furthermore,thisprogramwasfollowedbytheBureauofTourismBusinessandGuideRegistration,DepartmentofThailand,MinistryofTourismandSports.

Mr.TitiyootobtainedhisMasterDegreeinInternationalMarketingwith amerit andDiploma inManagementStudiesat theUniversityofSurrey,UnitedKingdomwherehehasgaineda highly rewarding experience which he describes aslife-changing.Indeed,theexperiencesandskillsthathehasdeveloped from the UK have helped himmature bothpersonallyandacademically.
BeforejoiningBUUIC,Mr.TitiyootusedtoworkasafulltimelecturerinInternationalCollegeSuanSunandhaRajabhatUniversityandhealsohasexperiencedofworkingasamarketresearcheratMarketSupport,Co,Ltd.wherehehasobtainedstrongresearchskillsinbothquantitativeandqualitative.
Inhisever-vanishingsparetime,Mr.Titiyootenjoysreadingbooks,travellingtotheothercountries.

This year BUUICproudlycelebratesits11thanniversary.Therearecurrently1,012studentsenrolledinourcollegealongwith33facultymembersand15administrativestaff.TheongoingconstructionofourInternationalHouseisprogressingrapidly.Uponcompletionitwillaccommodateabout600femalestudentsand400malestudentsinseparatebuildings.We are looking forward to seeing theInternational House become operationalsometimearoundMarch2015.
