format, so bring something to share. We will gather in our beautiful Courtyard from 6-8pm,
with a come and go style we have always had.

Adult Bible Class: 9am Sundays
Come to the Couriers Bible Class, in the Fireside Room, at 9am to hear from our friend Rabbi
Stuart Dauermann and John Wipf as they team teach. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
All are welcome!
The More Jewish Jesus and the Difference He Makes
In this three session series, Rabbi Stuart Dauermann, PhD, explores with us a perspective on
who Jesus is that has gained much ground in recent years, a perspective that changes how we not
only see Jesus, but also how we see ourselves and others.
Session 1 –“Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no
longer (2 Corinthians 5:16 ESV).” The Jesus the Church has grown used to and the more Jewish
Jesus who was, who is, and who is to come.
Session 2 – Questions and Answers about Jesus and the Jewish tradition.
Session 3 - The More Jewish Jesus and your Christian-Jewish relationships.
Friday Night Shabbat Meal – A possible culminating event if there are a significant number of
Jewish people who might join with us.
Ushers and Greeters Needed for Sunday Mornings
This is an easy way to get started in serving. It’s also an easy way to get to know people who
attend Pasadena Covenant Church.
We need folks to greet other folks on Sunday morning and sometimes give directions or
information, if needed (that info will be provided).
We also need ushers to hand out Sunday morning bulletins, take attendance and pass the
offering plates. If you can help, please contact Joe Thomas at [email protected].

Sarah Circle will meet Tuesday, September 15th, from 9:30 am - noon in Fireside. We welcome all women to join us for service projects, fellowship and refreshments.
For more info, contact Julie Maljian at (818) 790-5911.
Women’s Book Club The Pasadena Women’s Book Club will meet Tuesday, September 22nd, from 7:30 - 9:00pm, at the Corner House to discuss what everyone’s been reading over the summer and choose books for the year. Please come with a list of some books you’d like to read together this year.
Newcomers are welcome. If you can’t come to the first meeting, please email your suggestions to Jennifer Mawhorter at [email protected].
The next Urban Ministries Team meeting will be on Monday, September 14th, at 6:45pm in the Santa Barbara Room. All are welcome to join us!
Budget Update for – August 26, 2015 We want to give you a month-end status for our income versus budget ytd. As we are able to “keep up” during the summer, we can minimize the year-end push. Thank you for your support of our ministries.
On September 13th all kids will “move up” to their fall age/grade levels! We have great things planned for all age levels:
Infants and Toddlers
Loving care for infants & toddlers is available in the nursery during the 10:30 service. A room for nursing moms (with video feed from worship) is available in the lobby of the sanctuary as well.
2’s & 3’s (Coordinator, Rita Brown)
GOALS: We desire to create an interactive and meaningful environment where these young ones can be exposed to God’s love and care.
We will use: Colorful flannel board Bible stories Interactive songs, percussion instruments and movement Simple arts and crafts to reinforce the lesson at home
PreK/K (Coordinator, Maureen Huang)
Our PreK/K kids begin in the main worship service with their parents, to help them begin to learn to worship and know they are a valued part of our whole church. They will be dismissed, along with the gradeschoolers, midway thru the service to their classroom in the preschool bldg. Their program follows the Godly Play curriculum, which uses beautiful wooden figures and thought-provoking "wondering" questions to draw the children into the stories of Scripture. In the fall they will focus on reviewing their Old Testament "Journey TO the Promised Land" stories— learning about Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, David, Moses, and Daniel. In December they will join the gradeschoolers on their Journey IN the Promised Land as we learn about Jesus' life, teaching and ministry as it points us to life in the Kingdom.
1st - 5th grade: Logosland (Legos + Bible): Journey IN the Promised Land
Last year the kids began their three year journey, traveling TO the promised land with Abraham and his descendants. At the end of the year they finally reached Israel: the Promised Land! This year grade school kids will learn what it means to live IN God's Kingdom as they study Jesus: his life, his teaching, his death & resurrection. They will hear about "God's BIG Welcome" as they discover the Kingdom which Jesus is inviting all of us to be a part of, and what it means to live in his Kingdom.

It is back to school for our middle and high school crew. With
that they bring with them all sorts of new tools from the summer.
Our middle school students went deep at Campus by the Sea and
began to bond through affirming one another's gifts, talents and
abilities. It was great space for our students to play and pray. Coming off of the CHIC experience
our high school students are settling back into the busy routines
that make up high school. Others are pealing off to college.
Earlier in the summer we celebrated Josh, Brennan, Christian
and McKayla. These four have been such a gift to our group.
As they pack for the next adventure may our church find ways
to connect and call alongside them in this new season.
