Please try to support them, not only for our members but also for any groups who offer up their quilts to public scrutiny. Third, our quarterly meeting in Glace Bay promises to be most interesting. . Quarry Point Quilt Guild
is extending an invitation
to all OWQS members and Quilt Friends
Come to St. Mary's Church Hall, Marconi Street, Glace Bay on Saturday, September 27th for our September quarterly meeting.
The Quarry Point Guild will have the coffee and tea pots on for early arrivals so come early and enjoy the fellowship of fellow quilters and friends! Award winning quilter, Marg Ferguson will be showing her first and latest quilts in a great trunk show! Marg has many stories to tell about her quilts. Come for the Quilt Trunk Show and stay for the Auction!! Don't forget to bring along your items for the auction! Our auction in Margaree was fun and raised over $600.00 for our guild. Many quilters brought in quality items and many got great bargains! Items such as quilt books & magazines, fabric, kits, quilting tools, candy and food items, etc. that have served their purpose for you and now you can pass them on for someone else to enjoy, excluding the candy and food items of course!! Our auctions are always fun and there is always something for everyone!! Tuck a few extra dollars in your purse and come along and join in the excitement!!
Words of Comfort: Since our meeting in June we have lost two of our OWQS life members. Doris Jobe of Glace Bay passed away on June 26,2014 and Annie Stacey of Sydney, formerly of Louisbourg, passed away on August 6, 2014. These dear ladies have been members since the beginning of OWQS and will be dearly missed by us all. A founding and valued member of Quarry Point Quilting Guild and OWQS member Linda Barrett passed away on August 2nd, 2014. Our sincere sympathy is extended to the loved ones and friends of these three ladies.
CHARITY QUILTS/TOUCH QUILTS Are there any unfinished Touch Quilt Packages out there?? If you happen to have one please bring it along to our meeting as family and friends are still requesting Touch Quilts for their loved ones with Alzheimers. Brenda Hulan would also like to meet with us to explain and show the Quilts of Valor (QOV). Victoria's Quilts are also requesting our help.
