Some even wan o be known as peace-makers. Bu every ime or some reason, he peace promised, or desired, he one sough afer, evaporaes like he morning mis as he day encouners he sun. In he mids o our searching or peace as a human race, he words o Jesus ring in our ears like he church bells ha are so common here in Europe. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afaid.” (John 4:27) Peace is a gif we receive rom God reely, bu i is condiioned, we are asked o si a he ee o Jesus quiely and rus Him o receive i. Man always waned peace, peace wih God, peace apar rom God, bu very ew are seeking he Peace o God. Ta peace is ound when we se aside ime o draw close o God in prayer and worship. Ta’s where our problem lies. We don’ have ime. We are oo busy, indusrious. We need o make ime o si and wai or God o commune wih us. God’s promise is rue even oday: “In quiet and res your salvation: peace and hope are your strength: but y would not have it so.” (Isaiah 30:15) Spending ime alone wih God is a difficul discipli hese days because we are waging war, war wih o enemies, wih ourselves, and even wih Saan. God is he Gospel we preach, He is he reason our exisence.
