Keeping you up to date with everything that’s happening in school... Head Teacher’s Column Dear All Welcome back to pupils and parents. We have had a very calm and organised start to the New Year, our new teachers’, Miss Russell and Mr Whittaker have settled in well and look like they have been here for a long time. Miss Russell began with an early dissection of a brain – (a sheep’s brain, not a child’s) and Mr Whittaker was having such a good time playing football with his class that he fell and badly sprained his ankle, so he will not be in Fabio Cappello’s plans for some time. Mrs Rogers will slot back into 3/4 for the time being. To help parents have a clearer view of what we will be doing in school this term we will be holding a series of open meetings in which teachers will go through what the children in their classes will be doing during this term we would like to encourage as many parents as possible to attend these meetings, as it will help you support your child’s learning. We have a very exciting year planned with lots of trips, residentials later in the year and we are expecting our best ever results from our fantastic year 6 who are being pushed hard by the equally brilliant Yr5 group. The groups in Years 3/4 and 1/2 will be having a great time learning new skills and sharing their new found knowledge with anyone who will listen. Head Teacher’s Column

Dear All

Welcome back to pupils and parents. We have had a very calm and organised start to the New Year, our

new teachers’, Miss Russell and Mr Whittaker have settled in well and look like they have been here for a

long time. Miss Russell began with an early dissection of a brain – (a sheep’s brain, not a child’s) and

Mr Whittaker was having such a good time playing football with his class that he fell and badly sprained

his ankle, so he will not be in Fabio Cappello’s plans for some time. Mrs Rogers will slot back into 3/4 for

the time being.

To help parents have a clearer view of what we will be doing in school this term we will be holding a

series of open meetings in which teachers will go through what the children in their classes will be doing

during this term we would like to encourage as many parents as possible to attend these meetings, as it

will help you support your child’s learning.

We have a very exciting year planned with lots of trips, residentials later in the year and we are expecting

our best ever results from our fantastic year 6 who are being pushed hard by the equally brilliant Yr5

group. The groups in Years 3/4 and 1/2 will be having a great time learning new skills and sharing their

new found knowledge with anyone who will listen.

If you have any questions, queries, or comments please do not hesitate to contact us, your views will

influence how we develop as a school.

Nursery

During the past week, the Nursery staff have enjoyed going out on home visits to the new intake of Nursery children. The

visits have created valuable opportunities to build relationships with both the children and the adults before starting Nursery. We are all looking forward to an exciting year as the children begin Nursery the week commencing Monday 12th

September 2011.

Hopefully there won’t be many tears, at least not from the children!!

The Weoley Big Jervoise Garden Project

In September Miss Lowe and the children are going to be building a greenhouse out of plastic bottles in our new school garden. Greenhouses are buildings where plants are grown and we will be growing lots of things in it next year. We imagine the greenhouse will look something like this,

or this

In order to build it, we need your help. We need you to collect and bring in used clear, 2 litre empty bottles to school. We will use your empty bottles to build our greenhouse.

Please bring in 2-Litre bottles and drop them at the school hall. The 2-Litre bottles we need look like this: WE NEED 1,500 BOTTLES TO BUILD OUR GREENHOUSE SO EVERY BOTTLE HELPS. Thank you, Also a BIG thank you to all of our parents/community volunteers & DRB grounds maintenance for all their hard work so far on the project.
