UPCOMING EVENTS IN MT. SHASTA

4th Friday Art WalkYear-Round!

Every month, locals and tourists alike gather in the heart of Mt. Shasta to sip wine, nibble cheese and ad-mire a wide array of art displayed by the downtown galleries. A mere three blocks in length, the Mount Shasta 4th Friday Art Walk is packed with 12 galler-ies and shops (marked as purple stars on the map dis-tributed during the event). What’s not to love about walking down the street and exploring local shops with the snowy peak of Mount Shasta looming above you and the fresh mountain air filling your lungs?Although its name may imply otherwise, the Art Walk is much more than just art. On top of paintings and sculptures, the Walk also has a variety of cloth-ing, body care products, food, jewelry and other trin-kets for sale. A small taste of wine, cheese, crackers, cookies as well as locally-made foods like chocolate and spreads can be found in most participating galler-ies and shops.

We here at JEDI and the Women’s Business Center are working in partnership with the SBA offices in Sacra-mento and Washington, DC to bring much needed training on government contracting, and what it means to be “Hubzone Certified” as a small business owner.

We offer our trainings in a number of different ways to best suit your needs. Evening classes, day classes and webinars are available.

Don’t miss out on our upcoming advanced business training Power Up Your Business! In its inaugural year, this program for owners of businesses with 2 or more employees, drew 34 participants (17 owner/participants, 4 partners, 13 employees) who received valuable training on growing their businesses. The course features top speakers in their field.

PROGRESS!In our first half year, the Women’s Business Center at JEDI served 227 clients. Of these, 83 clients received 360 hours of technical assistance in 215 sessions with JEDI consultants and 189 clients received a wide va-riety of business development workshops with WBC trainers. As of June 30, 2015 entrepreneurs served by the WBC at JEDI started 10 new businesses and ex-panded 12 other businesses by creating 12 jobs and mobilizing $51,500 in business capital.
