As parents, we can reflect on the greatest gift of all – human life in the form of our own children. And we may ask, “How can a gift that is so wonderful cause such anxiety?” We are comforted by the thought that we are doing our best and that the gifts should be enjoyed! OVERSEAS TRAVEL Best wishes and safe travel to our students and staff member, Kara Gough as they journey overseas to Cambodia to assist the Cambodian people in a range of different activities. I commend the Year 12 students for pursuing this adventure rather than “schoolies” activities. Good luck. HEADSTART This has been a very busy time for the students and staff with our Year 12 students completing their external examinations, our Year 11 and Year 10 students preparing for and undertaking their examinations. On Monday, 3 rd December we begin the HEADSTART program for all students undertaking VCE study next year. This is a change from previous years where the entire school participated in this program. The reason why Years 7 – 9 are not participating in this program is to balance the time available in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 for these students to complete the academic program set out at the commencement of this year.

OVERSEAS TRAVEL
Best wishes and safe travel to our students and staff member, Kara Gough as they journey overseas to Cambodia to assist the Cambodian people in a range of different activities.
On Monday, 3rd December we begin the HEADSTART program for all students undertaking VCE study next year. This is a change from previous years where the entire school participated in this program. 2019 SCHOOL MUSICAL. We are very excited to officially announce that in 2019 St Brigid's College will be bringing the much-loved story
of The Wizard of Oz to the stage!
For VCE 2019 students this program will establish the tone, expectations and procedures in readiness for entry to VCE, and are therefore a requirement for all VCE students 2019 to attend. Teachers will outline the required holiday homework that needs to be completed prior to their return in 2019.
STEAM
Initial preparation is underway for the commencement of our STEAM centre building throughout 2019. Over the weekend works will be undertaken to convert the Performing Arts Room into our Woodwork room with our Performing Arts moving into Rooms 31 and 32 next year. We are eagerly awaiting the confirmation of our builder from Catholic Capital Grants and will notify all as soon as this information becomes available.
ST BRIGID’S ADVISORY COUNCIL
At last night’s Advisory Council meeting it was requested that we seek two further representatives from our parent body to become members of our Advisory Council. The tasks of the Advisory Council include:
assist with the preservation and promotion of the school’s Catholic ethos and culture
provide informed advice to the school’s Governing Authority
contribute to the development of the school vision
develop and monitor school policy in line with the school vision
recommend school policy to the Governing Authority for ratification
monitor and offer advice in relation to the school’s budget
assist with planning for the present and future operating of the school
participate in the appointment of the principal and staff, as requested by the Governing Authority
assist with promoting the school and Catholic education generally in the local community
participate in regular school advisory council formation activities
There are generally 8 meetings throughout the year which occur on the third Wednesday of each month commencing at 7.00pm at St Brigid’s College. I have included in this newsletter a parent nomination form.
WHITE RIBBON WALK
Our Year 10 staff and students will be participating in the White Ribbon Walk tomorrow. White Ribbon Day 2018 is tomorrow and is Australia’s national day for raising awareness of men’s violence against women, and how to prevent it in your community. As a school, we are proud to support White Ribbon Australia.
Yours in the community of St Brigid’s College

YEAR 10 MOCK INTERVIEW PROGRAM
Last Thursday the Year 10 students participated in the Mock Interview Program. The students were given the opportunity to experience group interviews facilitated by panel members representing the following organisations: Bunnings; Skillinvest; MADEC; YMCA; Axis Employment; MAS Experience and the LLEN (Local Learning and Employment Network). We would like to thank the panel members for volunteering their time to a valuable learning experience for our students. They were impressed by the performance of the students and the program that we offer. They were able to provide feedback and identify the areas that for some students they need to still work on improving. The areas include creating a resume that is not generic, writing a job application letter of a high quality- without spelling and grammatical errors, preparing for the interview by researching possible questions and the company and dressing to impress. Below are some photos of the students on the day.
