Training children to be confident, independent learners, with enquiring minds, a life-long love of learning and an approach to life that reflects core biblical values and principles. Love Joy Kindness Patience Self–control Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Newsletter No. 1 - 13th September 2019 Welcome back! I trust you have had a restful and enjoyable summer and are ready for the exciting year ahead. St. Margaret’s is virtually unrecognisable! Over the summer, a significant amount of building and decoration work has taken place including: A brand new roof across the older part of the school, replacing one that was fifty years old and very leaky! A brand new fire/lockdown alarm installed New doors across the entire school New flooring in the older part of the school along with the stairwells Walls painted in the older part of the school A new ICT room installed in the old staffroom A new staffroom built in the library area A new KS2 library set up – in its final stages Benches in the playground repaired and painted In addition to all this, the staff, well led by Miss Robb, have worked tirelessly in producing new displays to further brighten our corridors. My thanks also goes to you, the parents, for your understanding about the exceptional nature of these works caus- ing us to delay the start of term by two days. Your messages of support and acceptance of this delay have certainly been gratefully received. We also thank God for His provision and grace in that we have been able to secure so many improve- ments to our building in a time of crippling budget cuts. I am sure you would like to see all of the changes for yourself along with meeting your child’s new teacher. We have arranged ‘meet the teacher’ sessions for all year groups where you can see the building and meet your child’s teacher for a quick, infor- mal discussion about the year ahead. If you have specific queries you wish to raise, may I suggest you arrange a further ap- pointment with your child’s teacher. The meet the teacher dates are as follows: Years One and Two – Tuesday 17th September 2019 Years Three and Four – Wednesday 18th September 2019 Years Five and Six - Monday 23rd September 2019 At the start of this new year, it is a good time to remind all parents that should you have a concern regarding a behavioural situation or your child’s academic progress, your first contact will always be with the class teacher. In the unlikely event that you remain unsatisfied or you feel the issue is of a more serious nature, please ask to speak to your child’s phase leader be- fore contacting a member of the senior leadership team. For reference, these are: Reception and Nursery – Miss Robb Years One, Two and Three – Miss Foster Years Four, Five and Six – Mr. Whittle All of these teachers are members of the leadership team and hold the higher level child safeguarding qualification. Should you have any concern about the behaviour or conduct of a member of staff, this must be brought to the attention of myself, Mr Huntingford (Headteacher) or, in my absence, the Deputy Headteachers (Mrs Haworth or Miss Anderson). Finally, in the very near future we are looking to become a paper-less school and will email the weekly newsletter over to you - which will also be published on our brand new website which will go live very soon. I pray you have a lovely weekend. Mr D Huntingford Headteacher
