I would like to thank our staff, in parcular Mike Shor, Florin Velea, Jess Mallen and our commiee for organising a great event. NEWSLETTER - Magill Primary School · 2018-10-25 · FERGUSON MURRAY TOLMERPENFOLD MAGILL SPORTS DAY NEWS Written by Torin, Natasia, Ashley and Emmanuel On the 19th of October, the

On the 19th of October, the annual Magill School Sport’s Day took place, where the
four house teams, Ferguson, Murray, Tolmer and Penfold, battled against each
other using skill, tactic and talent to try and win the shield. The day was a variety of
team building exercises and activities, and both individual and team events. We
started off the morning with a whole school assembly, hosted by the Year 7 house
captains. The assembly included the four house cheers, the warm up dance (Waka
Waka), and some warm words of encouragement from our school Principal,
Mr Iannunzio.
After the conclusion of the assembly the classes split off to compete in their class
events, followed by a recess break to eat and rehydrate. After twenty minutes
students moved on to the buddy events, where the lower primary and upper
primary worked together and used teamwork to try and win a range of different fun
events and games. Once the buddy events were over, students had a twenty minute
lunch break. The fundraising committee held an awesome sausage sizzle to provide
lunch for all the hungry students.
Following lunch, it was time for the afternoon events, where the tension was rising
for the final stretch of the day. The 3-7 students of each house competed in a wide
variety of events, including 3 in a sack, relays, bob spry, and cart and carry. The re-
sults were mixed, and the excitement grew as the day drew close to an end. The R-2
students came to join their teams for final and most anticipated event of the day,
the R-7 relay.
After all the events were finished and all the results were in, Mr Iannunzio
presented the winning team. In first place was Murray, followed closely by
Ferguson, Penfold, and Tolmer. At the end of the day, everyone had a good time
and overall, a great experience.
