On Monday 21 June 2021, Tagore International School,Vasant Vihar celebrated National Reading Day, WorldMusic Day and International Yoga Day with happiness,vigour and some interactive activities. The day began withsome chanting and a video where students, parents andteachers shared their thoughts on yoga being the very bestpath to fitness. All students proceeded to perform the‘Surya Namaskar’ and a few other ‘asanas’. The students ofthe Western Music Club performed the classic ‘We are theWorld’ to celebrate World Music Day.Classes VI to XII had been given interesting short stories toread over the weekend.

On 14 July 2021, the FrenchNational Day was celebrated

virtually. The programmeincluded the French National

Anthem, a French song, Frenchcuisine by a student of our

partner school, Marias Casaresin Lyon, France.

The school celebrated the Independence Day online along with theInvestiture Ceremony on 15 August. The event, that was streamedlive on YouTube, commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony andrendition of the National Anthem. The celebration was graced byMr Deepak Bhawnani, an almnus of the batch of 1986 and the firsthead boy of the school.

सं�कृत �दवससं�कृत �दवसSanskrit is one of the most pure and one of the most beautifullanguages ever spoken. To generate interest and to promotethe use of this heritage language among children and adultsalike, Sanskrit Diwas was celebrated on Saturday, 21 August,2021, using the online medium.

The Chief Guest was Dr.Ashish Kumar, Sanskrit Newshost and anchor in DD NEWS.He described the event as,‘The best Sanskrit event thathe has attended in the onlinemode, so far.’

Various competitions wereorganised on the occasion. SanskritChitra Varnan, Shlok Uccharan, andSanskrit dialogue delivery, to namea few, had the students not onlycompeting with each other at an individual level but also across classes and that too in Sanskrit! Amélange of other events like songs rendered melodiously in Sanskrit,and dances set to Sanskrit shlokas, the master anchoring bypresenters Smayan Gupta and Lavanya Saha left the audiencespellbound. To top it all was the impeccable Sanskrit spoken by eachand every student, across all grades. नमो

discussions on India’sachievements in sports.

To celebrate this day, classes IX to XIIengaged in two interesting and excitingchallenges -‘The Push-Up Challenge’ and‘The Skipping Rope Challenge’. Theparticipants were required to record a 30second video of themselves taking thechallenge. The dedication and fortitude ofeach participant was quite conspicuousas well as inspiring. The students whomanaged the maximum number of push-ups and jumps were declared thewinners. Along with this, a sports quiz wasconducted in all the classes, followed by

DISHA 4.0DISHA 4.0An annual event, Disha 4.0 wasa 3-day event that took placefrom the 24 - 26 June 2021.The event consisted of a totalof 6 competitions ranging fromgrowing your own plant, craft,photography, singing, dancingand painting. More than 150 people fromdifferent countries includingPakistan and Canada attendedthe event live on Google Meetand the event witnessed 400+extremely amazing andmesmerizing entries.

The fifth event , Cryp@trixwhich involved a cryptic hunt,was open to students of classes9-12 only. Participation fromover forty reputed schools fromDelhi and NCR spoke of thepopularity the Fest has gainedover the years. Each entry wasa fusion of talent, imagination,creativity and alertness andwere applauded by the judges.

The Competition for classes IX to XII was held on Thursday,01 July 2021. Each participant was required to make a TVadvertisement for any one Kitchen Product. Every singleparticipant pushed themselves, to present mundaneappliances in colorful and incredibly funny interpretations.

The competition for classes VI-VIII was organized on07 July 2021. In this competition, each House had twoparticipants who presented a 4 minute advertisementon any character from ‘Marvel Franchise’.

Book Cover MakingThe competition for classes VI-VIII was held on 10 August,2021. Participants were required to design a handmadebook cover for an audiobook that they were provided withprior to the event.

The poetry recitation competition for classes IX-XII wasorganized on 19 August 2021. In this competition, eachHouse had two participants who recited a 3 minute longpoem on the topic, 'Pubescent Pandemoniums: Whencliques don’t click for everyone'.

BREAKING BARRIERSCAMPAIGN

Live session on Instagram on 07 June. Organizations, MedlifeFoundation and Queer Academia also interviewed them.Online session, Supported by Canada in India for The HinduCollege Queer Collective, New Delhi on 21 June.Online session by Unitedworld School of Law, KarnavatiUniversity, Ahmedabad on 27 June.Another extremely interactive online session for the SishyaSchool, Chennai on 28 June, supported by the HighCommission of Canada. Online session for Birla Vidya Niketan, Delhi in 01 July. Online session for Deepak Foundation, Gujarat on 03 July.The session also saw guest speaker, Prince Manvendra SinghGohil. The Breaking Barriers Campaign was invited to collaboratewith The Belongg Inclusive School Festival, a 2 day festivalon Inclusive Classrooms, followed by an Open Mic Eventconducted on 17 July. An informative session for the newly inducted educators aswell as Nursery to Grade 5 educators of our own school on24 July and 7 August respectively. Breaking Barriers had conducted a 1 hour long sensitizationsession on 19 August for all its new members.

This social outreach program of the school is a sincere attemptto sensitize senior school students about the LGBTQI +community. The Breaking Barriers campaign was invited toconduct various gender sensitization as well as creatinginclusive classroom sessions-

These touched base upon a sensitive topic which has beenneglected for years and was much appreciated by the audience.

Flawless Flaws campaign kick started sessions with the survivors ofSheroes Hangout and Chaanv Foundation from 08 August 2021. Thesurvivors shared their stories, talked about their life experiences, newthings they learned during the lock down, and advice they offered for theaudience.

Another session was conducted on 14 August 2021. With more survivorsjoining and even more fun, a language workshop was organized where thesurvivors were taught some basic English and gave them some practice toimprove their vocabulary. The survivors were eager learners andparticipated actively.

The sessionswere very interactive and likeZig Ziglar said, “If you are not willing tolearn, no one can help you. If you aredetermined to learn, no one can stop you.”

Divya Sijwali and Parth Purihave set out to prove thatage is just a number when itcomes to making an impacton society.The students ofTagore International Schoolwere invited to speak at theBrand Horizon BespokeShow to talk about theirjourney of becomingchange-makers and startingup their own social venture.

For the Sehpaathi-Samarpan project, the orientationsessions were conducted on Spoken English, Grammar,Mental Health and well-being that also included funactivities and informative videos. The orientationsessions were held on 17 and 18 July 2021 followed byregular weekend sessions (1 hour each day).

Workshop on Happiness,Gratitude and Emotional

Quotient“Happy teachers create happyclassrooms”. Keeping the abovetheme in focus, an onlineworkshop was conducted for theteachers by Ms. Neera Chopra,Education Analyst, on 09 June2021. The interactive workshopwas titled ‘Happiness, Gratitudeand Emotional Quotient’ wherethe domains of self -awareness,managing emotions and empathywere emphasized.

Teach the Heart: Online Workshop onSocial Emotional Learning

Educators are not only responsible forproviding academic knowledge i.e teachthe mind but also share skills tounderstand and manage emotions andbuild empathy i.e teach the heart. In thesame context, an online workshop wasorganized for the school faculty, on 24July 2021. The session was taken by Ms.Lata Singh from MEQ Academy. Ms Singhshared a variety of activities along withthe benefits of SEL skills to help teachersimplement social emotional learning intheir classrooms.

Design Thinking WorkshopTo keep the teachers abreast with the latest techniques in pedagogy, twoworkshops on Design Thinking were organised for the TIS staff memberson 28 May and 8 June 2021 respectively. The resource person, Ms DeepalVora from ENpower focussed on the Design Thinking approach forcollaboration and problem-solving.

ENpower Idea HackathonIt was held on July 24 2021 for students of classes IX -XII. It kicked off with aworkshop to enlighten the students about the type of problems faced bystartups followed by strategies like SCAMPER and DFV scoring along withvarious examples of day-to-day products. The hackathon helped stimulate anentrepreneurial mindset amongst the students giving them a fresh perspectiveand helping them cultivate the right attitude.

Debshata Choudhary of XIC, a member of the Ecoclub, had made it to thefinal round of the GANGAQUEST, a National levelonline quiz organized bythe Ministry ofEnvironment and , afterqualifying 4 preliminaryrounds. In the final round,he stood sixth out of 35participants. He will bereceiving a cash prize ofINR 2500 and a Certificateof Merit.

Zarah Gupta of VIII C has bagged InternationalRank 1 with 100% score in Math Olympiad forclass V. She is the proud winner of a gold medaland gifts worth INR 1000/-.

Vrinda Arora of class VIII Cbagged the Lenovo SmarterEd Scholarship, sponsoredby Lenovo, in associationwith The Hindustan Times.Out of the 60,000registrations that had comein from 1300 differentschools, Vrinda’ s namefeatured among the top 32candidates in the Northzone, and amongst the 100winners in the country.

Young Scientists Virtual Fair wasorganised by Bridge InteliaKnowledge Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in themonth of May-June 2021. There were four national winners inthe gold category from classes VI-VIII. Their projects were uploaded,graded and shortlisted. In the finalround, the students had a one – on-one interaction with the judges. Thewinners are- Kabir Chugh- VI C,Aahana Sawan -VII A, SaraDyarakoti-VII B and DikshitaChattopadhyay -VII BThe National Silver Winners are RheaLuthra- XC and Krishiv Wahi of XB.

Rhea Luthra of class X C cleared‘Round 3’ in ‘Young Tycoons BusinessChallenge’ after competing with 6500teams from around the globe. She isnow in the top 28 teams competing atthe final level.Team ‘Fabricreate’ comprising ofMalvika Chawla, Prerna Sharma,Sanya sarin and Suhana Mehta ofclass XII B have also made it to the top28 teams at the international levelwith their business idea on how totackle the issue of fast fashion, beingapplauded by the judges.

The team consisting of Adya Agarwal of classXII D, Sulagna Moitra of class XI B , ManyaKamath of class XII A and Maalav Chakraborthyof XI C won the commendation prize at the‘International Student Journalist Award 2021’.The event was organised in July 2021 by JagranLakeCity University, Bhopal. For thecompetition, the team had prepared a videoreport of a news story on social disparity inimplementation of the vaccine scheme of thegovernment.
