Reducing the time taken to rake his Lucerne hay was the main driver for Allan Moss’ decision to purchase a twin rotor side delivery hay rake, the ability to rake 2 windrows into one or just rake 2 single rows was also important. Allan initially looked at a few used rakes and quickly realised that the problems he could be buying were not worth the hassle, he settled on a new Kverneland Taarup 9471S EVO. Allan’s opinion is that the 9471S EVO is better engineered than some other rakes he considered and with features including tandem axles on both rotors, a high clearance for travelling and moving over windrows, hydraulic swing from 2 windrows into one and separate windrows the rake would achieve his aim. Tim Freemantle chose a new Challenge 3521 Front End Loader for his New Holland TD80D Tractor. Tim realised soon after he sold one of his tractors (the one with the Front End Loader) how difficult it can be to do all those little jobs around the farm, so he has purchased a new Challenge loader to fit his second tractor. Tim had a Challenge loader on his previous tractor and the new loader is a Challenge because of his experience with that loader. The fact that the frames fit so well to the tractor and the engineering is so well done and specific to each model ensured Tim purchased another Challenge. The loader has a 4in1 bucket and round bale grab and will be used on Tim’s farm. Tim also has a mobile welding, slashing and crane loading/tilt tray truck hire business.

Ian & Liz Coxhead and Bruce & Wendy Coxhead have traded their trusty New Holland BR740 round baler for a new New Holland RB150 CropCutter after 10years. The old BR740 has been trouble free and in keeping with a plan to keep their machinery relatively current it was time to upgrade. The New Holland RB150 is the latest series of round baler with improved capacity and density, an improved 5 bar pick up, 4 belts and the new Drop Floor to unblock rotor plugs. Hill Country Upgrade For some years customers with steep country have been lamenting the fact that Semi Powershift transmissions rely solely on the handbrake to hold while

getting out for gates or while fencing, consequently your options of tractor have been limited – NOT ANY MORE! New Holland have released two tractor models in the utility tractor segment with the option to have a transmission lock to stop machines rolling away if the hand brake fails or is not applied or it is just so steep you want the security of knowing there is a physical lock. Both the T4 Dual Command series (85Hp up to 115Hp) and the T5 Electro Command Series (99Hp to 114Hp) are available Ex-factory with the transmission lock option. In the higher horsepower ranges the T7 Series (125Hp to 228Hp) and the T8 Series (235Hp to 367Hp) also have models in the range that feature Transmission lock availability. So you now have more options for new tractor purchase to do your hill country work with more safety.

Earlier this month it was lovely to receive a Thank You letter and photo from Toby Whitten. Toby is pictured at left playing Hockey with the 2014 Under 13 NSW Team at the National Championships. Toby is the son of Scott and Karrie Whitten of Tamworth (long-time customers) and I can actually remember when Karrie was pregnant with Toby and her bringing Toby into the office when he was a baby. How quickly they grow up! Goodwin Kenny was happy to support Toby in his sporting endeavours and we hope he does well with his Hockey into the future.

First year Apprentice, Nathan Keel, has adopted a “new look” for November and has grown a “Mo”. I think we (including Nathan) are a bit surprised at how well it is growing!! It is all for a good cause with donations going to the Movember cause which is raising awareness about Men’s Health (there is a box on the Spare Parts counter or go to the website au.movember.com and search for Nathan Keel). The Mo is a bit like Chopper Read’s and when

he puts the dark glasses on Nathan does look like he belongs to the Mafia. I am sure it (the Mo) will be gone before the wedding!

GOODWIN KENNY, alias Circulus Amicorum, (Circle of Friends) again entered a team in the Rotary Club of Tamworth Sunrise Battle of the Brains IV which was held in Tamworth on Saturday 15th November. Our team this year consisted of Staff & their partners and friends - Shane Bridges, Susan Goodwin, Sharon Housden, Jodie Vince, Peter Reeves, Tony Housden, David Hartmann & Yvonne Bridges. We did not win the event and finished in a creditable 7th place and had a lot of fun racking our brains for answers to some very puzzling questions (none of which related to tractors and farm machinery). The Rotary Club raised a tidy sum which will be donated to local charities.

Last month I travelled to Walcha for the Walcha Garden Festival and trying to choose one photo to include was too hard, so I have allocated some space on page 2 to share with you some beautiful vistas - Thank you to the hardworking owners of these beautiful gardens.
