END OF YEAR REPORTS Reports will come home with your child next Friday, the 7 th December. (except for children who have started school in Term 4 of this year who will not receive an end of year report. You will, however, have had or be about to have an ‘after 6 weeks at school’ interview with your child’s teacher). Included in the envelope will be a stationery list (except for TKW and TKP learners who will purchase their stationery packs here at school). Replacement lists (if you lose this one), will only be available in store from the local suppliers. Also inside the envelope will be a note advising your child’s kete and whanau teacher for next year. Each kete will be composite classes again next year. TKW will have both Year 1 and Year 2 learners TKP will have both Year 2 and Year 3 learners TKM will have both Year 3 and Year 4 learners TKA will have both Year 4 and Year 5 learners TKT will have a small number of Year 5’s and all the Year 6’s. If your child is in the same kete as they are in this year IT DOES NOT MEAN they have been kept back or not gone into the next year level. Eg a Year 3 in either TKP or TKM is a Year 3 and will do all the things that all Year 3’s do. We will be having a transition afternoon on Tuesday the 11 th December - where the children will go to their 2019 teacher, in their 2019 teaching space. This gives them a chance to meet with all the teachers in their kete too. RECYCLING Keep remembering to recycle your oral care waste, your glad containers/dispensers and gladwrap - right here at school! SWIMMING POOL The pool is now ready for swimming (we have the solar heating functioning and the cover on.) If anyone knows/sees people climbing over the fence, please actively discourage the action - along with being unsafe they are doing irreparable damage to our new covers. TKA and TKT akonga need their togs each day from now on. Lunchtime swims may be offered for other groups when the weather is suitable, so do pack togs and a towel into bags. To avoid the issues we had last year with the pool cover not being rolled on and off correctly, the Board has decided on a different approach for this season. The community will have access to the pool only when the school considers it doesn’t need the covers on. We will be commencing swimming from the end of November, however community access will not be available until the last week of term (ie from 10th December). The school also reserves the right to restrict community access at any time from mid-February (when the nights may be getting cooler, so the covers are needed again). We know that as our community you will understand that our highest priority is to provide water that is warm enough to teach swimming skills during the day. An access code for the pool costs $100.00 per family, or $60.00 for a family that has paid their 2018 parent donation. These can be purchased from the office in the week from 10th - 14th December. EOTC WEEK 2019 is our year for a whole school Education Outside the Classroom week (as opposed to senior camps). Many of you will remember the huge success of EOTC week in 2017 that culminated in our whole school BIG DAY OUT to Masterton. EOTC week 2019 is the 18th - 22nd February - and our whole school BIG DAY OUT to Whanganui is planned for that Friday. Watch for more detail early next year - we will then be able to advise costs too. (Last time we budgeted on $25.00 per child, but were lucky enough to secure a grant that reduced this cost). This is something we will attempt to do again. PTA UPDATE It’s great to be able to announce the proceeds of recent PTA fundraising events. The last sausage sizzle raised $644.00, and the proceeds from the calendar art was $1928.00. Great work PTA and thanks to everyone who has supported them. The Xmas carnival is the final PTA event for this year and parents/caregivers can help in a number of ways 1. Offer to loan us a crockpot, rice cooker, multi box and/or extension cord (clearly named please). These are needed at school by Tuesday, 11th December. 2. Offer to prepare a crock pot of food - all ingredients and a simple recipe will be provided on the Tuesday. 3. Offer to help sell the food on the evening of Wednesday 12th December (the Xmas carnival is here at school and we need helpers). 4. Come along to the Xmas Carnival yourself and buy the food on offer, before settling down with your picnic blanket and enjoying the prize-giving and performances. How many of these could you manage? See Lin or phone the office to volunteer in any way! PARENT HELPERS MORNING TEA Are you one of the many parents/caregivers/grandparents who have volunteered your time and/or skills at our school this year? If so, the staff would like to invite you to come and enjoy a morning tea catered by us. Whether you are a member of the BoT or PTA, a sports coach or manager, a camp parent, someone who helps out in classrooms, assisted us with Major Production in some way, a library volunteer…… and anything else I may have forgotten, THIS IS YOUR WARM INVITATION to come on MONDAY THE 10TH DECEMBER AT 11AM. Please RSVP to the office before next Friday so we can cater appropriately.

Plant-to-plate ran successfully over the last three weeks. The children learnt some life skills around growing and cooking food. They also learnt how to care for the environment and the Earth's resources. We were impressed at their dish washing too. Thank you to Sue and Jenny who came and helped chop, cook, plant, and clean. Your help was appreciated.
