They had to really stretch their noticing muscles to draw some of the main landmarks of the park and Mrs Welling’s was really impressed to see them totally absorbed in their sketching work. Also this week we’ve welcomed 31 trainee teachers who spent the day with us learning how to teach English and Miss Woodward and Mel went to Wakefield to show over 60 trainee teachers how we use ICT and Ipads to support our learners and make learning brilliant here at Worsbrough Common.

Learning Beyond our Classrooms

This week we’ve been spreading our learning far and

wide, with Year 3 making a visit to Locke Park on Thurs-

day afternoon as part of their topic work on ‘Our Local

Area’. They had to really stretch their noticing muscles

to draw some of the main landmarks of the park and

Mrs Welling’s was really impressed to see them totally

absorbed in their sketching work.

Also this week we’ve welcomed 31 trainee

teachers who spent the day with us learning

how to teach English and Miss Woodward and

Mel went to Wakefield to show over 60

trainee teachers how we use ICT and Ipads

to support our

learners and

make learning

brilliant here at

Worsbrough

Common.

EYFS Library Visit

On Thursday 15th October EYFS

classes are going on a trip to the Li-

brary, They will be leaving school at

1pm and walking to the Library, where

they will enjoy lots of fabulous and

fun reading activities. Parents and carers are very wel-

come to join in with the trip—keep an eye out for a letter

with more details in your child’s book bag

Smartie Pants is Changing… but just a little!

As our school is getting bigger, Smartie pants assemblies

are getting longer—in fact they are too long for some of

our youngest learners now. To keep Smartie Pants at a

comfortable length we will only be giving Smartie Pants and

Dojo certificates out during Friday assemblies. Reading

and blogging certificates will be given out in Monday as-

semblies. We also love to hear about learning out of school

so anyone with any out of school achievements such as

sports medals and awards can still be brought in for our

Wednesday Learning Hero assembly instead.

Headlice

Just a quick reminder about

checking and combing through

your child’s hair on a regular

basis (at least weekly). Our

younger children are particu-

larly susceptible to head lice.

Keeping longer hair tied up is

also advisable. If you need

any help or support please pop

in to see us :)
