Focus: alternate breathing

Getting ready: Tuck your index and middle finger into palm & place the thumb by your right nostril and ring and little finger to your left. Gently close your right nostril with your thumb. Inhale through your left nostril on the count of 1 (= 4 seconds) then close it with your ring-little fingers. Open and exhale slowly to the count of 1 through the right nostril. Keep the right nostril open, inhale for 1, then close it, and open and exhale slowly for 1 through the left. This is one cycle. Repeat 5 times.

Reading tips

Are you looking for some nice book about yoga? Here are two beautiful books: “Light on Life” by B.K.S. Iyengar. In this book, B.K.S. Iyengar recounts how his physical weaknesses led him to yoga but "While this [the asanas] is a legitimate place to begin, it is not the end... Even in simple asanas, one is experiencing the three levels of quest: the external quest, which brings firmness of the body; the internal quest, which brings steadiness of intelligence; and the innermost quest, which brings benevolence of spirit.” “Bringing Yoga to Life: The Everyday Practice of Enlightened Living” by Donna Farhi. As Georg Feuerstein wrote, Donna Farhiʼs book is “an intelligent, down-to-earth discussion of how yoga can meaningfully shape your day”. Remember, you can enjoy reading while practising your Baddha Konasana (cobbler pose) !
