To date the schools involved are : Bombay; Buckland; Mauku; Paerata; Patumahoe; Parkside; Puke East; Puke Int; Puke High; Puke North; Puni; Waiaua Pa. (A few others are considering joining). A COL is part of the government's decision to allocate approximately $350 million for clusters of schools to work together on common challenges and to pool their expertise. Our cluster would like to examine the options available for our students, families and teachers. We will be sharing more information over the coming months as we work through the process. What is a Community of Learning (COL) ? A COL refers to groups of schools that come together to raise achievement for children and young people by; sharing expertise in teaching and learning; supporting each other; helping students move successfully from primary to secondary school. Trusteeship In May 2016, it will be BOT election time. We would like to assist with information about becoming a BOT member. You are most welcome to come and sit in on a board meeting. Our remaining two meetings for this year are : 17 November @ 5pm and 10 December @ 12.30pm in the staffroom (after Middle & Senior Prize giving). You can also visit our website for more information. [BOT : Becoming a Trustee]. Arriving before 8am We've noticed an increase in the number of students arriving before 8am. This means that they are unsupervised and at risk. We provide an on site before school care programme between 6.30am and 8.15am, through KAS. Any children who arrive before 8am are to be in KAS care please. No children are to wonder about unsupervised. Between 8am and 8.30 there usually are enough staff around, that someone can render assistance to a child in need. Not Returning to Bombay in 2016? Could you please let the school know ASAP if your child/ren are not returning to Bombay in 2016. We are inundated with requests for places and it would wonderful to get an early idea of what is available next year. Have you read our ERO report on our website? I thought I’d share a snippet with you : “ This modernised learning environment supports the school’s vision of providing a curriculum that promotes collaboration among teachers and students, and is responsive to each individual student’s interests and learning needs. “ Over the coming holidays, we will continue with building works to support our vision. Rooms 1a-3 will get a new canopy over their court which will give them all weather use of the court space. Room 4-7 will also get a canopy along their front entrances. Room 9 and 10 will get a new common break out space between them. Here’s hoping that the build will be done before school starts in 2016! 27 School Days Left : Lots to Achieve. It's hard to believe that there are 27 school days left before the term ends. The school has a crazy calendar of events to get through. Please stay informed by checking the weekly notices on the App. These notices are updated on a Sunday. Our school leaders are planning to raise funds for a flagpole. Please lookout for their event and support generously. We need to raise the flag at the front of the school on a daily basis - it's been missing for too many years.

HAVE YOU EVER FELT THAT NOW IT’S TOO LATE FOR YOUR DREAMS TO

COME TRUE AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE LITTLE OR NO VALUE?

Tear Fund and Crossroads are delighted to present, “Life after ‘Faith Like Potatoes’” on November 15. In 2008 South African actor, Frank Rautenbach landed the lead role in , “faith Like Potatoes”, the biographical drama based on the book written by Augus Buchan. Frank was soon to find out that God’s love sometimes takes us on journeys we do not wish to go on, and makes us travel by roads we do not wish to use, to take us to places we never wish to leave. Joining us will be David Lyle Morris, the talented and charismatic singer/songwriter, who will be performing some of the songs off his newly released album, Northland. Tear Funds, “Life after ‘Faith like Potatoes’ “ event promises to deliver an evening to help you discover your true purpose and how to cultivate an unwavering belief in the power of faith, which like potatoes, grows unseen. This night will be an inspirational and uplifting experience. Come along with friends and family and join us for a BBQ at 6pm prior to the evening beginning at 7pm. www.crossroadschurch.co.nz
