Message from Chris our Coaching Convener:
Well done on such a positive start to the season! The first couple of weeks has seen largenumbers of athletes for coaching on Thursdays (over 60 registered) and over 80 athletes onSaturday for the delayed first interclub meet. It was real buzz to feel the energy, excitementand sense of community built around families supporting theirs and others athletes. Welldone to juniors and seniors who stepped outside of their comfort zones trying new events bethey throws, jumps, vaulting, hurdles and longer distance running.
Now that the season is a couple of weeks in the coaches are getting an idea of numbers sothat we can provide the best possible level of service to all of our athletes from the under 7'sto seniors. We will continue to respond to the athletic development needs and aspirations ofathletes and this will include coach development with Athletics Canterbury for completenewbies through to experienced coaches. We will aim to keep you as informed as possiblewith coaching courses, clinics and other opportunities to grow coaching capability in andconnected to the club.
So, if you are interested in learning about coaching and developing your knowledge andskills in athletics coaching email me [email protected] you'll go onto the PTH Clubcoaching database.
Best wishes to all of you and especially those of you preparing for school sports, nationalsecondary school champs and multi-events over the next few weeks.
Cheers, Chris

We will be clarifying this further once we have our next committee meeting.
We are also working at getting a for the Club so watch

Saturday Interclub 2012 - 2013What a full on session we had on Saturday- WOW.
Over 80- athletes for PTOC on out first Saturday is just fantastic.
It was a long morning for all but I am sure as we get in to the season we will settle into it so be patient please.
Next week is in Timaru and I think we have good numbers going down.
It takes 2 hours 30-45 mins to get there from Christchurch City Centre.
We start at 10 am, so please arrive 9.30 for warm up, registration etc.
Click for directions
Our new AGM system was a great success and many thanks to all of you who stepped up.
With a parent acting as AGM the kids can be organised together, warmed up, go to events together, and
make friends. Parents within that group can get to know each other too.d
We will continue to fine tune things and develop the roles.
Ian Graham did a great skills session with one of our groups on starts and is happy to do this with each
group on a Saturday. So if you are an AGM we will introduce you to Ian and arrange a time for him to
have a session with your group. I hope we can do something similar with relays.
Damian managed to get 7 girls into hurdles on week one of the season which is fantastic. We got 1st2nd and 5th in
the 13G and we had 4 girls compete in the 12G section. Go Girls ( and Damian!! )
